I know this isn't by any stretch a fresh shot, but......I'm so charged up by how much I'm learning and how much more of a different perspective I'm getting here seeing the things I see every day in B&W for a change. So....I took my flash-in-the-pan, one-shot-wonder ribbon photograph and B&W'd it........what do you think????

Here's another 2-fer. I made an image using the HDR technique (3 images) and then processed one of the originals to see what the difference would be. It's a big one... I don't know if one is "better" than the other, just different.
the HDR version... The original...

B&W Side challenge / side challenge.
I thought it would be good to see how we all edited the same image and what the different outcomes would be so I have uploaded a large (2.42mb) unedited photo as your original to try your skills and see what the resulting images look like.
The thread with link to the photo and details are here.

We have deer in our front and back yard most of the day. Today i thought i'd give them a shot (pun intended). Shot in color, desaturate and curves.....yes it's an awful picture but not like they were trying to pose or pay me!!!

Day 12
I like Node's idea of processing the same image. That would give some perspective as to how much of the result is related to PP and the skills needed for it.
On the masochistic side - I am always thinking I must be a bad photographer to process my images so much. I somehow feel less competent if I can't achieve my "vision" in camera. A lot of the stuff out there on photography also influence us (me!) to think that way. So I'm all up for blasting this stereotype! |
