I entered three images in our county fair this year (first time to try at all), and was awarded two ribbons! Looks like I now can call myself an "award winning" photographer. :) Although this was not a juried show, they used professional photographers as judges -- except for one "people's choice" award and a few awards by businesses. The desk clerk said they had nearly 1,000 entries. Nothing to get a big swelled head about, but makes me feel good for sure.

It would be fun to see other county fair entries and award winners from those of you who are willing to post. I see there was an earlier thread about state fair contests, but let's just declare that any summer award would be fair game for posting here -- or discussion about why or why not to post such images -- or discussion about the images themselves.

Congrats. I've entered stuff in the county fair for quite a while, this year I got first place and best of show for black and white with this one:
I'm looking forward to seeing how that one and the other I entered in the state fair do. I was able to enter in the professional category for the first time, and the state one has a lot more competition. |

Extra congrats back to you - first place and best of show for a very deserving image (speaks well for the quality of judges too). Let us know how the state fair goes.

This placed third at the Western Idaho State Fair! It was my first time entering anything at the fair so I was pretty darn proud of myself! And I won 8 whole dollars, woohoo! :)

I have never entered but I think I will enter this shot next year. They have a contest for entries taken at the fair the year before.

I gave your image a 9 during the Toys II challenge. Glad to hear the Idaho judges agree with a high rating. Good for you. My second place ribbon comes with a 4 dollar reward -- to be mailed in September - but I understand why county fairs can't afford such generous amounts as the state fairs. :) |
