OH man, I missed all the Cleveland Bashing and Unbashing â€Â¦ I'm going to the GTG and riding with my buddy justamistere. I'm really looking forward to it â€Â¦ other than getting up really early but that's no big deal I have a 2 year old!

If I may put in something about Cleveland: It's all what you make of it. It's a medium-size city with many restaurants and many entertainment and art places. It's not San Fran, It's not Chicago, but the MetroParks ARE awesome and the suburbs have a lot to offer without being too expensive like some other cities.

PS: That's my image!! thanks!!!
PSS: I was mugged of my Nikon Coolpix 880 in Cleveland a few years back. He thought it was a purse. Other than that, no problems.

Talk about an armpit.
You obviously aren't very familiar with Cleveland as St. Clair and MLK would be an opportunity for some, how shall we say, gang photojournalism?

ETA:
Just saw your reply after I posted.
Sorry to hear your buddy's misfortune.

At least if there were 10 of us that gtg in Cleveland, anyone who tried to rob 10 people with cameras would be pretty stupid, so no worries there. Here is one of my fav pics of cleveland....

Yeah baby I am looking forward to this GTG. I am scrambling right now trying to find ND filters and step down rings.
06/14/2007 02:31:39 PM · #103
I always have the CP filter, do you think I need the ND filter too?
I know there are several different darkness levels that are measured in stops I guess â€Â¦
Coincidentally I was planning on getting one anyway.

Is a CP filter enough is the question I guess â€Â¦ and I gotta clean my sensor I know that ;P
06/14/2007 02:44:29 PM · #104
I only have a UV filter on all my lenses. I am lokoing at getting a 2x and a 4x ND filter plus step down ringsso I can use them on all my lenses. Though one of the people I talked to said a CP filter might do what I want with the waterfalls. I have never used any of these types of filters so I dont really have aclue. But I would love to start playing with some.

Okey doke so now I cannot make it. I have to take people to the airport and that should wipe out any free time I have. I probably should spend time visiting relatives anyway lol.

Tim sounds like you guys don't live too far from my SIL. She lives off of Central Ave and I guess is probably about 5-10 minutes from the 270 Westerville exit that is near Kohls.

Have fun and I hope you have wonderful weather too!
06/14/2007 02:54:14 PM · #106
Yup - just down the road from that exit.

You know if you are going to be in Newark there is the Dawes Arboretum that you might find interesting. They ahve a variety of different gardens and trees. Really a pretty place. Might want to check that out.

Yes it's just me coming down.

I may bring 2 boxes of thin light sticks to decorated forest, people, water or floating in the air, anything you can think of making with them. Then, maybe dragging it to paint with light, 195 light stick from Pat Catan's craft store, Duck tape, and fishing line.

These ar not edible, I haven't decided on food, yet. Waiting for head count, and to check with my head chef, my wife, for suggestions. I could do plsticware/paperware, or you're missing Drinks on the menu.

What kind of drinks, I have lots of Dannon Spring water in reusable 25 oz squirt bottles, (no Biota).

Tate just refilled all of them for me last night with fresh Free, water from Lake Erie :-), yum.

This is how I look:

It will just be me on the trip. If someone decides to join me I'll let you know.

I'll go ahead and bring paper plates, napkins, and some plastic silverware. I'll also see if my mom can cook something up for me to bring as well. See you guys there!

I think Alan already signed up for plates and stuff. Maybe you could grab a watermelon or something?

Oh, my bad-I missed that. Darn you Alan for getting the easy stuff! lol

Alright, I'll figure something out-thanks. C-ya guys there!

P.S. I'll know by Friday night if it will just be me going or if my friend Hillary who's also a photog will be going or not.

But, seriously, if you click on my clown photo, you'll get a glimpse of what I really look like. Althought, that clown face isn't hard to miss either.

I will be bringing drinks, as I mentioned above, I got them this evening. Great, life sustaining, refreshing, but non-alcoholic, beverages. And a box of colorful, chocolate covered sunflower seeds. Great for macro shots, too.

I will be there (by myself) and probably leave shortly after lunch. I plan on getting out very early taking some shots before 9:30 then meeting you all at the OMC at 9:30. PM me and I will give you my cell if anyone want to coordinate a very very early shoot (6:30 a.m. sunrise type of thing).

I went ahead and picked up a 4x ND filter this morning and a diffuser filter also. I also learned a bit about digital vs. non-digital filters. I decided the diffusion filter would be fine as a non-digital filter.

filter info
this doesn't really say much but since lilght enters our digital cameras differently, digital filters are optimized for that. I'm so darn technical (hey, I'm more 'ahteest' that photog).

Here's my truly awesome first shot with the diffusion filter: â€Â¦ not sure how much I like THAT filter.

I just drove the hour long round trip to the only camera store that has the filters I wanted plus step rings. I picked up a 62 mm circular polarizer filter and then I had the guy get me two rings so I could use it on my smaller lenses. I get home only to find out that i have the step down rings going the wrong way. Now the guy helped me through the whole sale so he knew what I was doing. And yet I come home with the wrong freakin thing. And I have no time to go back and trade out. I am not too pleased.

What size ND filter did you get Tate? I held back on getting one cause of the cost of the polarizer.

On a more positive note the brisket is smoking along just fine.
06/15/2007 10:25:10 AM · #116
77mm filters on all. I have a step ring from 72 to 77 step-ring if that helps you you can borrow it for some shots. Oh, I also have a CP filter for 52mm if needed.

Let me know what you need I can get it during lunch break today.

Dodd Cameras main store is 15 min. away, I'm going there to get a ND filter, too, Timfy.

Where did you go?
I wouldn't be suprised if you said CORD but would if you said Midwest.
06/15/2007 01:39:25 PM · #121
Yes - it was Cord. Most everytime I have gone there I wasted the trip. Didnt have what I called them about or went home with the wrong thing. Very frustrating.

I find they do not know as much about cameras as they claim, atleast our local one here in Newark (well, they are in Heath)

timfythetoo & aimeethetoo

I believe I have a phone number for everyone except Gayle (buckeye fan). I dont remember where I put it after our last gtg. We will give a call to all before heading into the area just to make sure we still have a connection. I am not sure what reception will be in the park. We are so looking forward to this and meeting everyone. See you all int he morning!

The brownies have been made... and if I can control myself, perhaps there will be some left by morning :)

Mine and your nd-4x Filters are the older type, not the new "digit" type, hence the lower price. Tate bought the last 77mm, Thursday evening. I ordered one to swap, later.

Meanwhile we can do a side-by-side comparison/test. Is it just a name-gimmic and $89 instead of $52. If I wake up. I need more technical detail to buy into the claim. light goes through the lens, whether SLR or DSLR. It gets cut down 2 f-stops or it doesn't. I don't know what they mean by "Optimized" for Digital.
