First, sorry in advance for the self-congratulatory note, but the month of May has been very good to me and I wanted to share the news with my DPC friends! So rather than "just" make it about me, I encourage you to post your own "other contest" successes here too for all to enjoy. Perhaps we can have one thread like this per month, just like the other shared "personal best threads" we have going here. Keeps down the clutter, and may make for a wonderful "thread" filled with pics and info about other contests.
Anyway, here's my news:
I just received an email that I won two first place awards in the maine.gov summer photo contest.
First place Coastal Scene Category:
"Acadia Rocks!" (How could I lose with a title like that, ;-) )
First place Inland Scene Category:
Fore River Marsh (hmmm, no catchy title for this one...)
I like the BW version of that, but since it's to promote their scenery, and I didn't see previous BW winners, I went with the color version. Here's the BW FWIW:
Of course, the prize is nothing more than being posted on their website for June, July, and August as the winner, but hey, I'll take the referrals to my DPC prints account!
(Interestingly, I now have a week to get back a affidavit certifying that the photos are mine and that I give them permission, and I have to have that notarized. And it has to be "back" to them by next Wednesday or I am DQ'd!)
Also this month (I told you it was a good month), I won first place (my first time) at BetterPhoto for this old challenge entry/shot:
I am pretty thrilled because I've only one second place before over there and there's a lot of great photos in the competition.
Other congratulations go out too to  njsabs2323 for her first place win in the "Elements of Design" category. Beautiful photo. And to SandyP and  librodo for their second place wins!
Lastly, as of this morning, I've got two photos of the month now concurrently going over at DailyAwards. Both my first time for Photo of the Month there. One is Acadia Rocks, and the other my Sheer Alps shot from my Switzerland trip (a year ago December):

Neil, congrats on all your wins!
Here's mine.
Took 2nd place in the annual outings photo contest at the local club
Also, took first place for a slideshow I put together of animals with their mouths open (from Africa) to the tune of O Sole Mio.

Congrats to both Neil and Colette!
Just more examples of how middle-scoring shots here can still do well elsewhere.

there is some stiff comepetion at betterphoto. making finalist there is something to be proud of. so a first place is very cool. congrats on that neil !
i've managed a second place at betterphoto, but not recently... it's a photo of a worm if you'd care to try to find it... ;}

I also had a second place winner at BetterPhoto
Kinda funny though- It placed 2nd in the monthly theme. I misread what the theme was and thought it was gold (current theme)- How it actually placed in April Showers........ I don't know, but I'll take it! |
