Most folks who know me have always considered me to be a tough as nails and stoic individual who seldom displays emotions... but little do they know that in the quiet of the night I reminisce of days gone by and think of my daughter and what the future holds for her.
When I do,the song " If I Could" by Ray Charles comes to mind... and all the toughness dissipates and I am reduced to tears simply because of my love for her, and the fact that I will never be able to do this for her twin brother, whose death left a gaping hole in my heart, which is still there after so so many years.
Ray Charles - If I Could
If I could - I'd protect you from the sadness in your eyes.
Give you courage in a world of compromise.
Yes, I would...
If I could - I would teach you all the things I never learned.
And I'd help you cross the bridges that I burned.
Yes, I would...
If I could - I would try to shield your innocence from time.
But, the part of life I gave you isn't mine.
I watched you grow - So I could let you go...
If I could - I would help you make it through the hungry years.
But, I know that I could never dry your tears.
But, I would - If I could...
Yes, if I live - in a time and place where you don't want to be,
you don't have to walk along this road with me.
My yesterday - won't have to be your way...
If I knew - I would try to change the world I brought you to.
And there isn't very much that I could do.
But, I would - if I could...
Oh, baby, Daddy wants to protect you.
And help my baby through the hungry years.
'Cause you're a part of me.
And if you ever, ever need, I said a shoulder to cry on,
Or just someone to talk to, I'll be there. I'll be there.
I didn't change the world.
But, I would - If I could...
(Spoken) "Oh, darlin'. I love ya baby."...
Ray

Not sure if it's been mentioned...
"Walking her home" - Mark Schultz
Looking back
He sees it all
It was her first date the night he came to call
Her dad said son
Have her home on time
And promise me you̢۪ll never leave her side
He took her to a show in town
And he was ten feet off the ground
(Chorus)
He was walking her home
And holding her hand
Oh the way she smiled it stole the breath right out of him
Down that old road
With the stars up above
He remembers where he was the night he fell in love
He was walking her home
Ten more years and a waiting room
At half past one
And the doctor said come in and meet your son
His knees went weak
When he saw his wife
She was smiling as she said he̢۪s got your eyes
And as she slept he held her tight
His mind went back to that first night
(Chorus)
He walked her through the best days of her life
Sixty years together and he never left her side
A nursing home
At eighty-five
And the doctor said it could be her last night
And the nurse said Oh
Should we tell him now
Or should he wait until the morning to find out
But when they checked her room that night
He was laying by her side
Oh he was walking her home
And holding her hand
Oh the way she smiled when he said this is not the end
And just for a while they were eighteen
And she was still more beautiful to him than anything
He was walking her home
He was walking her home
Looking back
He sees it all
It was her first date the night he came to call

My 'new' husband sang this in my ear as we danced at our wedding....He chose the song for the dance unbeknownst to me..
Ok, so maybe it will only make me cry..
BEAUTIFUL IN MY EYES (Joshua Kadison)
You̢۪re my piece of mind, in this crazy world
You̢۪re every thing I've tried to find
Your love is a pearl
You̢۪re my Mona Lisa
You̢۪re my rainbow skies
And my only prayer is that you realize
You'll always be beautiful in my eyes...
The world will turn
And the seasons will change
And all the lessons we will learn
Will be beautiful and strange
We'll have our fell of tears
Our share of sight
My only prayer is that you realize
You'll always be beautiful in my eyes...
You will always be beautiful in my eyes
And the passing is the show
That you will always grow
Ever more beautiful in my eyes
And there are lines upon my face
From a life time of smiles
When the time comes to embrace
For one long last wine
We can laugh about how time really flies
We won̢۪t say goodbye
‘Cause true love never dies
You'll always be beautiful in my eyes...
You will always be beautiful in my eyes
And the passing is the show
That you will always grow
Ever more beautiful in my eyes
The passing is the show
That you will always grow
Ever more beautiful in my eye

That one by Rascal Flatts that was popular not to long ago? The video will make you cry for sure. It goes something like "What hurts the most, is being so close....yadda yadda....is what I was trying to do.
Then Whiskey Lullabye, is a tear jerker by Allison Krause.
Something to Believe In, by Poison
In the Arms of an Angel, by Sarah somebody.
The Video of "Hurt" by Johnny Cash is super intense as well.

Ok nobody laugh...but there are two James Blunt songs on his Back to Bedlam DC(NOT that dumb You're Beautiful song)that choke me up.
Goodbye My Lover: "you touched my heart you touched my soul, changed my life and all my goals" and "I've kissed your lips and held your head, shared your dreams and shared your bed."
I got the CD last year for my birthday in April and I was going through a bad breakup of sorts and I'd hit repeat over and over on that song. I apologized to my best friend for crying every time we were together and she played another song on that CD and said she thinks of me whenever she hears it...
Cry: "I have seen peace; I have seen pain; resting on the shoulders of your name" "and if you want to talk about it anymore; lie here on the floor and cry; I'm a friend.
A year later I'm going through the same thing...same guy...and I'm balling right now. |

Well I can not say much about myself. But i do know that whenver I sing, that makes my wife cry.
Even before I open my mouth, she shouts at me to stop singing.
(I do not really understand why??) |

"Enter Sandman" by Metallica - Everytime i put that lullaby on for my children, they started crying and that make me cry...
Enter Sandman
Say your prayers little one
Don't forget, my son
To include everyone
Tuck you in, warm within
Keep you free from sin
Till the sandman he comes
Sleep with one eye open
Gripping your pillow tight
Exit light
Enter night
Take my hand
Off to never never land
Something's wrong, shut the light
Heavy thoughts tonight
And they aren't of snow white
Dreams of war, dreams of liars
Dreams of dragon's fire
And of things that will bite
Sleep with one eye open
Gripping your pillow tight
Exit light
Enter night
Take my hand
Off to never never land
Now I lay me down to sleep
Pray the lord my soul to keep
If I die before I wake
Pray the lord my soul to take
Hush little baby, don't say a word
And never mind that noise you heard
It's just the beast under your bed,
In your closet, in your head
Exit light
Enter night
Grain of sand
Exit light
Enter night
Take my hand
We're off to never never land

"Let There be Peace on Earth". It was my dad's favorite song at church. We sang it at his funeral. There wasn't a dry eye in the place. |

Having lost a newborn in 1985 I can assure you that I can no longer listen to the song by OC Smith called "Daddy's Little Man".
I have tried, but even now I break down and cry like a baby.
