Congrats, I think....8>)

Don't they have a twelve-step program for being milestoned?

congratulations, don. woohoo!

well, i'm in match, with a shot i've done the least to ever, i think. nonse ninja and curves. that's it. it's the first one from the not very good shoot i had this morning. 40 minutes, and one decent shot. ah well. my idea tonight? it SUCKED. totally. and not in a good way.

A far as the weirdness factor goes, my B&W entry's standing as the challenge closes.....

Just commented, Jeb. :) I salute you for your bravery. And more people LOVED it (voted 10) than liked it a lot (voted 9)!

Okay, folks.....here it is.

The one that's been making me twitch.....

I want total and complete, no holds barred discussion.

I know I out-clevered myself, but this *IS* a Black and White Portrait, isn't it?

I think I stated it well when I said elsewhere that I was going for out of the box but I got out of the park.

You're only 5 views away now - I'll get 'em in at some point today. As for image views, you really need to stick some new stuff in your portfolio.

My 100th challenge closed out with a whimper. I think I'm at 104 counting the two currently running. And I dared to enter MPII, but not with the shot I was originally considering. I like the one I entered quite a bit. I'll post the other in my "for friends and family" portfolio when I get home from work. It has really cool lens flare.

As for the race to 5.3 or 4.3, I'll play along based on estimated score, based on comments received. I've decided that having scores on during a challenge is simply a bad idea all around. So they're off, for good. Having them on doesn't change the final outcome, and the final outcome is all that counts anyway.

Based on the fact I have 0 comments for my Motion Panning shot, I'm estimating somewhere from 4.5-5.5 for an opening salvo.

I think so. It was a clever entry. Clever is sometimes noticed in the voting, but often not rewarded.

I had the 10,000th profile view at 3:58 am est. I am so unworthy.

Yay Mary! Good that it was a Team Suck person. :-)

Can I request if you vote in Motion Panning and think it is DNMC, to please so state? At least maybe I'll get a comment that way...
01/17/2007 04:24:54 AM · #1260
I would be glad to share my 3 DNMC comments - brown ribbon here I come. This meet an urge to throw a silly one in.

Hi All,
Question, how would one express an interest in being part of one of these teams???

I am looking for another reason to submit photos and would like to compete in this if possible?

thanks
Darren

Hi Darren,

Have you read through this thread? You do realize, don't you, that we really don't *compete* but encourage each other to submit and help out where we can, right? Sure, Don does some weird math thing each week and a team "wins", which gives them the right to select OOBIEs and Yappies and such, but we're not very cutthroat. :-)

I believe Our Fearless Leader ( posthumous) is requesting a 50 word poem or essay on why you suck. Or something like that. Or you're allowed to knit something.

(Can you tell we're not overly serious yet?)

Darren,

I'm not sure what you are looking for.

If you are looking for competition this is probably not the team for you. The competitive teams are a part of WPL-they have this website. I believe the teams may be full.

If you are looking for fun though the League of Suck may be of interest.

Quoting our fearless leader, posthumous:

"This thread belongs to Team Suck, a ragtag group of militia... um... photographers who compatriate more than compete, more interested in winging than winning, in love than lustre.

We don't let a low score get in the way of a dream!

As our seditious philosophy gained ground, our ranks grew, until we became more than just a team. We became a league of teams in wholesome if not entirely serious competition with each other. And that's the way we all became Team Suck."

If you are interested, please write a short essay or poem, 50 words or less, as to why you want to join team suck and what the suck philosophy means to you.

-Mary

First, levyj413 I'm so glad your beautiful little girl is okay! That road rash looks very painful. Thank goodness for helmets.

Back to regular 'ole suckage on my match entry (but I really like it, so am not too worried about this one):

Best of 2006 is still hanging out about 6.24. My two scores are almost polar opposites ;-)

I just want to let you all know in advance that I'm not AWOL. I will be attending FOTOFusion, a huge photography convention that takes place annually here in Delray Beach, FL. I can't afford the full convention (workshops, field trips, award dinners, portfolio reviews, etc., but I am attending all the community events. Those are lectures, slide shows, and tutorials by vendors and visiting photographers. So between that and trying to get my challenge entries done, I won't have much time for commenting and reading this thread. I'll be back on Sunday.

While I'm away, keep your fingers crossed for my Match entry.

Yay Julianne - great score so far. Take notes and share what you learn, and most importantly, have a GREAT time!
01/17/2007 08:08:28 AM · #1268
Argh. I'm now fixated on a particular element of my "match" photo that I've noticed and is bugging me. I wonder if the voters will notice.

Turned my scores off for this - maybe I can reach the rollover without them!
01/17/2007 08:10:42 AM · #1269
Julianne, what a great score! You might be in ribbon territory with that, hope it stays up there!

Just finished looking at thumbnails of panned motion entries. Conclusion: panned motion = almost impossible to do well. Or rather, almost impossible to do at all.

That certainly fits my description of understatement!

How 'bout, Jeb hit one out of the park, went screaming past goals he hadn't even set yet, got a *HOO HA* RIBBON, then submitted a screwball entry in the very next challenge screaming back down over two full points in his score firmly establishing his suck index all over again.

That about sum it up?

Gawd, I hope my life is a little less interesting for a while.

I have a pretty ordinary entry in Wildlife, and a slightly off the wall entry in Best of 2006 that's hanging at a nice stable 5.2 something.

I'm assuming there was a reason you just reposted Mary's post as a quote?

Damn, girl!

That was up for a whole 18 seconds before I yanked it back down 'cause I hit post instead of cut.

You're QUICK!!!!

And that's with a shot that is actually sharp, not blurred! AND in focus! AND taken with the just-discovered macro setting - AND held rock-still by my tripod!!!!!

ARRRGGHH! Methinks I should just resume shooting snapshots.

*stomping off now to shoot pics of horses' backsides for wildlife*
