Just a question.... I don't give 1, 2 or 3s because I just haven't seen an image that merits it for me...... and a 4 is even rare for me.... does that mean I am disrupting voting patterns because I have a different standard.... and some of the bottom scoring pictures get high votes because they appealed to me (I like OOTB)
Not trying to start ANYTHING it's an honest question. Does not have to be answered here, pm is ok. |

That's the key word right there. Fair, consistent voting with no intent, but to vote on a random image.

No, your pattern would be just that -- a normal pattern. You are not consistently voting the exact same photographers, and only those photographers 10s. |

Ahh, I get it now. I really was starting to worry after the recent threads on voting patterns and had to ask. Thank you very much for the quick response. |

Even if someone cast all votes of 5 for a challenge, I would believe that this would be considered an abnormal voting pattern. I would say that if we found someone doing that -- even though an across the board vote of 5 wouldn't necessarily dramatically sway things one way or another -- they would have to answer some questions about their voting habits.

I've actually done this - once. Was never asked any questions. I don't know if those votes were discarded. As I recall, I'd got so far through voting, and then realised I had no idea what the challenge actually meant - or perhaps that my interpretation of it was so wildly opposed to almost everyone else's that the only fair thing to do was vote everyone the same and get away from it.

Well, I'm one of the three members left in the Ninja Newbies team.
What bothers me with this is the timing. We had no time to rearrange the team. Our team has now been erased from the WPL site. I have gotten no message from any person, WLP or SC, notifying me of the situation.
This is a true mess and the case has been handled in a akward manner towards us the remaining and innocent members.
Why was the team erased?
Why was I or the other non-offending persons not contacted?
Why was this done the day before the tournament?
You all speak of justice, but funny there's no justice for us.
I will take a few weeks break from DPC and not participate in challenges because I don't feel the "fun" anymore.
Have a nice day all!

I'll try, but today is my daughter's birthday and I've already spent a ton of time on this. It would be helpful if I only had to deal with those who don't accept the findings. |
So tell her that someone on DPC wishes her a happy birthday and thinks she is lucky to have a wonderful dad. |

I don't vote in this manner....other than I vote all distasteful photos a 1.......they (SC) might find there is a "moral group" out here trying to "alter the points". |

Have you just answered my question?
Is there a specific test one must subject a photo to before casting a vote?....or can one just not like a photo for any reason and give it a 1? It certainly appears a group has been caught voting improper but I am curious if my voting style is likely to get me called on the carpet.
Photos get a 1 from me if they are vulgar, sac-religious or clearly do not meet the challenge.

The timing is unfortunate. Sometimes the innocent pay the price for the people who break the rules as well. But you're a victim of your team members'actions.
Don't blame the SC or WPL admins. |

The bottom line in all of this is. Anyone who remotely feels there is fairness in the current voting system needs to rethink their reality. This site has been tarnished. From this day forward it has officially become a joke. It would make a great sketch on Saturday Nite Live. Stop pussy footing around and be honest with yourselves first, and then the others. There is no credibility here. |

A little over the top don't you think? It's drivel like this that brings to mind the words "little credibility." The vast majority of DPC voters are honest, and the voting statistics bear that out. Quit spouting off about about something of which you have little first-hand knowledge. Spew your venom elsewhere. |

We proved that 95% of participants played fairly even when there was the added "pressure" of a team competition. If there's any joke, it's your post suggesting 95% honesty means no credibility! |

You can call me naïve but I refuse to believe that it’s that corrupt.
I may have little chance to change the minds of those that break the rules or push the limits but they have zero chance of changing me and the other 95% of the members who believe in fair play.

I've been away from DPC for a while and I've found it's a healthy thing to do to get some perspective back. BUT I know I have always voted fairly and have never tried to influence the voting in any way shape or form, it's never crossed my mind. I am positive I am not the only one. The site would not be so successful if the vast majority were not honest...plus the SC do a fantastic job of making sure that it stays honest - although with people saying there is no credibility here I do wonder why they VOLUNTEER their time at all.
But this thread DOES show they are good at their job... |

I'm sorry to say but this is a team problem not a WPL problem. Let me explain. Your team was contacted by WPL before your team members even knew they were suspended from DPC. I contacted the next person down on your teams list about your team. So it seams to me that your team did not communicate appropriately and with the magic of databases I can validate my statement.
After sending a PM asking him to contact me ASAP he begins the replies:

Hi,
So you are saying that team ninja newbies does not want to participate in the WPL3. The reason I ask is so I will know not to include the team scores.
I'm sorry about the circumstances that came up. I wish all well. Thanks for being a part of the WPL and you are welcome back at anytime. The others are welcome back as soon as the suspension is over.
Believe me this was a hard decision for me and I hope people don't think hard at me but I had Langdons information to go on.
Thanks for replying,
SDW

No further reply after that.

Edit to add: I know you were not one of the offenders. I just wanted to let you know that your team was informed and offered the opportunity to continue in the WPL3 with the recruitment of four new photographers.
Edit to add: Sorry about not editing the names out. I thought everyone knew who they where. I have edited the name out of the email as well.
