I do hope that everyone takes the time to go through these entries...one by one. In a challenge this size, so many wonderful shots get burried deep in the results, and since many of us (even those who take the time to enter the challenge) don't take the time to vote on all the shots, it's important.

There are an unfortunate amount of under-appreciated shots on DPC, and if we can all go through and look, I'm sure that some of those shots can be brought to light. ...And we may each find some new favorites along the way.

Honestly, this is something that should be done on every challenge, but this one especially.

Definately a lot of very good images got lost in this one. Here are a few of my top rated images which ended up in 140th or lower.

This was my highest rated pic. I did everything I could to make it through all of the entries but just ran out of time. But for this to finish a whopping 205 was a surprise.

I was shocked that this did not end in the top 10:

Not even posed, just as it is. Best of the year that I saw.

I go thru each one and vote. The pastel one I tried to comment on all of them but got to 53 and couldn't go on. LOL

I wouldn't think it would be fair to only vote on the first part and not finish. I would think that would throw off the true scores.
If its first come first listed I guess it would be best to be the first to submit if that were the case.

Each voter is presented with the thumbnails in random order -- it has nothing to do with submission order or photograper name or anything else like that. Additionally, most images receive very close to the same number of votes, certainly within a stistically-acceptable range for the purposes of our voting system. You are only required to vote on 20% of the entries for your votes to count.

Anyone want to take a try at explaining why this ended up at 4.5 -- "below average" -- other than people grading the entries on a curve, instead of rating them individually? I'll accept people not finding the subject especially fascinating, but I thought it executed decently enough ...

You gave me the funniest spot on comment on my pastel entry, I read it and laughed and then agreed exactly with what you said.

I thought this image was exceptional, from its simple title to the look and honesty of the eyes of the girl captured by ergates.

The userID link outsmarted me this time and wouldn't work.

I scored this an 8. Thought would finish top 50.

Me, too. I figure squeaky, err ... grumbling, wheels deserve a little grease. :)
