How much does a ribbon make a difference in print sales? Does it almost guarentee sales or does it really matter?

I also have never sold a print. Then again, I only have one ribbon. :)

I've sold 9 prints that didn't win a ribbon and 5 that did, FWIW.

I don't sell prints here because I think it's too complicated, allthough Ben made a fine tutorial :P

5 out of 20 sales are ribbons, but of the 5, four are the same picture (this one: ). |

One thing you got to look at here is DPCPrints is like preaching to the choir...
Don't know about you guys but fellow photog's is not my target audience. I don't rightly see DPCers loading up on other DPCers shots. How many prints can one hang on the wall? Their own and others.
I just imagine the walls of someone that does. A big of ol CF, a Virgo picture leveling nightmare of images... In my house, less is more...
I've probably got 6 or 7 shots hanging in the entire house...sorry but that don't leave a lot of room for on-line purchases.
I might buy em for charity every once in a while...but that is a do good thing and the print will probably go somewhere else as a gift.

Hmmm, interesting... I thought ribbon winners would sell better...seems to not be the case from what you guys are showing me.
