On the last day I went out and shot about 500 frames but didn't get home in time to even look thru them all before I had to select one to enter. It's doing fairly well but now that I have gone thru the rest I have found a couple that may have scored better. C'est la vie.

I would definitely be in favor of a cropping only challenge. Cropping is the hardest thing to do without for me. And I'd welcome another chance to experiment with in-camera settings for contrast, sat, and sharpness.

This happened to me in the flower challenge!!! I overlooked a shot and yesterday when I was browsing on all the pics I saw it, played with it a little bit and realized that it could definitely be doing better than my current submission.... From now on I'll try not to be so hasty.

Looks like I'm still going strogn. Only 4.5 days for my score to bomb. Can we just end it now on a happy note...unless of course you guys plan on voting higher.

I hope it stays above 5, but I did this one because I really like it. Of course, knowing that I have a PB (so far) in Flowers helps me not get upset.

You could do what I'm doing - I'm having such fun with the "in camera" settings that I think I'll do a whole lot more this way, regardless of the challenge. But like you, I do need to do a little cropping now and then.

yeah..from now on, i think i'm going to limit the post processing. This challenge has proven that I take good photos from the camera and then destroy them in PP.

Ever tried GIMP out? One of the best out there, photoshop aside. And the best part, it's free.

I've never heard of it. I just use either the Minolta diMage software that came with my camera or the HP software that came with my printer. Neither or particularly satisfactory. Minolta has better tools (I can adjust levels and curves for example) but I can't crop with it! I tend to switch back and forth. I'm getting the Adobe PS Elements/Premier package for my birthday to compliment the new laptop I got for my anniversary/early birthday present. I have to wait 'til August though. I will check out the link you provided.

After about 56 votes my score dropped from 6.3+ to this:

I'm disappointed by that but still one of my top scores to date---only my 80's shot is in the same range. That shot placed 10th so we'll see how I do this time.

Status: Your submission has been validated, thank you.

It was that good that it had to be validated? Guess so.

I am proud of myself...I have finally voted on 100% of the images in flowers and straight....now for comments and then voting on stationary.

Here are a couple more photo editing programs you may want to checkout while waiting for your birthday present -

IrfanView it's the best I have found for reading complete EXIF info, has a lot of other features and is constantly being updated. It's a freebie.

PhotoFiltre is a French language based program that has been translated to many languages, earlier free version is still available for private non-commercial use but I think that maybe the latest version with a few new features is now shareware, however at a very low price.

Well, I was pretty excited when they posted this challenge, as I'm not a big post-processing kinda guy (which a quick glance in my portfolio will undoubtedly prove). However, I'm even MORE excited now! [Of course, posting this score has now jinxed it to start taking a nose dive] :-) It was hovering in the 6.95 range around 115 votes, been dropping since.
