Well I looked through all of them this morning and I'm still stumped as to why I'm sitting at a 4.7.

It's FAR better then my other lowest scored entries. I guess sine I'm a paying member now I'm playing with the "big dogs" hehe.

I wish I could do some emoticons here to show my sadness. I have a great score, but now I'm sad because I thought I had a unique straight from the camera...and I've already seen 5 shots of the same subject as mine. Was everyone just finding the same subject as me on the same day as me??? You thieves for following me around..haha.

Somewhat dissapointing, but what do you expect of an unedited photo...I think I'll put the edited version on my profile. It looks sooo much better!

Ever tried GIMP out? One of the best out there, photoshop aside. And the best part, it's free.

Wrong hotpasta, the anonymous commenters are not cowardly. They are the more honest among us. The people who complain about them are the real cowards because they can't accept honest criticism. If anything, the site should be changed so that all commenters are anonymous until voting is over.

I accept your opinion, but why hide behind a paper bag? Why not be honest in an open way? Maybe 'coward' was a strong word...didn't mean to offend anyone. I just think it's easy to do and say things behind a mask. It's kinda like road rage...you can rage all you want inside the metal cocoon, but when you come out of the car, you might not be so bold...

I'd rather hear it as it is, minus the paper bag...

Because then we get pm's during voting trying to sway our vote, etc.
The bag comes off after the vote; it's not like we can say anything and stay anonymous.
No, I've never bagheaded.... YET.... but I do think twice about leaving comments these days, partly for that reason.

I had the most fun trying to beat the deadline for this speed challenge, so I don’t care if my score stinks…lol

I just received a submit request for my original and all I did was rotate the thing so it would show up as portrait. Does that mean I will be DQd?
Stupid, if so :(

why would they be?

To quote from the challenge description: "no rotating"

It doesn't look good for you :(

Uh oh - I didn't recall seeing that.

That's no rotating in post processing to be specific.

Bummer for the portrait crowd... I'd not thought of that when I was looking through the images earlier, but that's what it says.. To quote the whole bit for folks not interested in looking themselves..

<---- Challenge rules quote ----->
Details:
It's been suggested so many times, we're going to give it a whirl. Your challenge is to give us your best image STRAIGHT FROM THE CAMERA. The original MUST be a jpg; you may not use RAW for this challenge. Absolutely NO post-processing is allowed except resizing and compression for the web.

That's right; no cropping, no rotating, no image adjustments, no sharpening, no cloning, no borders, no nothing. Have fun!

Extra Rules:
Your original must be a JPG -- RAW images are not allowed for this challenge. Absolutely no post-processing is allowed except for resizing.
<---- End portrait mode ruining quote ---->

Lucky thing is I almost fell into the same trap, as I had two shots to pick from after wading through my weekends photos.. One portrait and the one I submitted. Close call. :-).

A Lament

I'm sitting here lamenting the fact that I followed the rules to the letter. There's practically no chance of getting DQ'd - which means my average-killing "POS" will remain to the bitter end.

Site Council have mercy! I suck!

I used to be a respectable mediocre. I even have a SIX (...one measley six), but NOW suckage is my lot. Oh woe is me.

On the brighter side, I have a day job that in no way requires me to have any photographic skills whatever.

Thanks! Now I've got "yet" to add to my anxiety.

Do you need skills to run the fry machine at McDonalds? Cause that's where I'm heading next...

And I didn't even read the rules lol. I figured "straight from the camera" was pretty self explanatory.

I'm still really stumped as to why it's sittin so low. Now if the ones that look like plain old snapshots with a bunch of business in the bg are scoring higher then me, I'd really like some comments lol.
