Yeah, I was beginning to realize that as I was reading this thread. But I am just happy that they decided to do this challenge to begin with, myself. People felt so strongly on both sides of the issue and it seemed that a compromise was reached with making it a speed challenge.

This is my first challenge with an update button - how do I stop updating scores every minute!?!?!

PS: Why is it not complusory to leave a comment if you vote a 1 or 2?

It will also show who knows how to use said equipment....... oh, and read thier manual again!! hehe

Nuzzer dear, you don't ;) Well, you could technically turn off your scores, but what's the fun in that??!

And have a quick search thru' the forums about the comment question; you'll find LOTS of discussions on it :)

On about 6.2 at the mo, but already got a Baghead comment saying "looks a bit suss". Dunno whether to take that as a compliment?

I did a last minute entry which I should not have put in...currently on 5.0000

I voted and commented and reckon the photos were really poor all round and perhaps more like snapshots. How much do we rely on Photoshop? I mean, there were some shockers in this lot, mine included.

Did you find the same thing???

considering that this is my first challenge and I couldn't edit at all, I'll take it as somewhat as a complement. However it's frustrating that I planned out the lighting and composition and don't have any comments yet...oh, well. A lot look pretty good considering the rules.

There's very little I'd have done to mine. Just a bit of crop on one side, one tiny dodge, and most importantly, sharpening. Other than being soft, I think it looks pretty decent! Sadly, voters don't agree and it's only at 4.8.
I blame the P&S camera ;)

Got this in @ 11:47!! Didn't have a thing that I was happy with. It has TRULY helped me in the area of 'seeing' the composition as I am shooting instead of relying on the fact that I can normally crop. ....Woooohoooo :O) Yet, it's still early and plenty of 'dropping' time left!

i t ried to review this morning and the site is painfully slowwwwwww
i am not sure they are tweaking stuff, but arrggggggg
will try after work.
anyway, i noticed people vote low, i am surprised when the best work is posted here, my average vote score is 8 and the lowest is prolly a six.
i am curious why the scores are so low when voting?
esp on a scale from 1-10
any other site i have been on, when realizing the caliber of the photos posted being the best one has, the scores were pretty much on the higher end of six on up.

well it doesnt change my way of voting, i will always be on the higher end becouse there is so much talent here and only posting the best of your pics deserves better than a four in my opinion.
that is why i take public voting with a grain of salt.
i value the comments much more than the average vote score, sometimes it can be a race of popularity, or not.
just depends on the flavor of the place.

So far a personal best. Maybe I should start doing all my photos straight from the camera and skip that whole PS step. Now if I could only get my flower score to stop suffering.
