my flower picture is taking a beating also but that was expected.

Give it time. Things can fluctuate wildly during the first 24 hrs or so.

Mine jumped from a 5.0 to well over a 5.4.

I'm shocked. It really isn't that good. :/ I will take it though!

I can't vote, not being a member, but I just wanted to say that I'm pretty impressed with a lot of the entries in this challenge. I wish my shots could look so good straight from the camera :)

YES! Please vote this way. My one and only comment was that the picture "looked edited" - sorry, it's just a really good picture!! :-)

Ah. Much better now. I've joined the "turn off the blasted scores" crowd.

And how long will that last?? I took time off (except for Bokeh quickie) from challenges and I really missed that blasted button!

Anybody else think that all the flower bashing talk is getting just a bit old? The flower shots can't possibly be as boring as all the remarks about them are.

Just remember that in-camera effects can be all over the place because we all have different cameras. I made sure to jack my sharpening and saturation to +2 in-camera and my contrast to +1. If your own camera isn't capable of doing this, don't be suspicious of shots that look sharper than yours.

This may also separate L-glass from normal glass...

Well it seems they have. For whoever just put my image up for Disqualification...I have just submitted the original file. In all its glory...no modifications. So I hope that when you see the validated notice you may go back and fix the disgusting score that you gave it.

So thankyou for doing as I asked...just remember to vote properly.

Since I know thoses photos strait out of camera (we all hope) I do vote for the camera as much as photographer... since I don't know the cameras used, whatever the camera could do with its best settings what matters to me.

I gave my best voting so far since I joined to DPC after the "second chance" challenge, which also was very nice overall.

Good luck to you all.

My photo started wit 4.5 and still happy to be here with other pros ;)

No complaints from me :)

Yup - I know exactly how it feels, but dont be too suprised that even AFTER being validated, people continue to assume you didn't follow the rules! I had the same dilemma with my Superstitions entry, where many thought I used advanced editing and stated so in their comments. While I appreciate their honesty - it makes me sad that even with the words "this photo has been validated" clearly showing on the bottom of the pic, they still leave remarks like those? - Is it because that validation note is no longer in red colour? sigh...

In theory, shouldn't scores in this one be lower. My picture is definitely a 4.x - there was no postprocessing. I think it's ok as a photo, and it even has a sense of humor about it. But it isn't as good as my usual photos (not that they are star quality either, mind you). Unless people are voting "on a curve" I'm not expecting much in the way of scores.

I can't wait for the after thread so I can post a properly edited version of my shot, ..... but the unedited is scoring okay so far - 5.7

i am so looking forward to seeing the results of this challenge. I'm glad to see a challenge where the equipment can be evaluated somewhat. I want to see which cameras and lenses took these shots. The post-p is deceiving. There are some great shots here.

I was kinda hoping this challenge would be a good showcase of composition talent, etc., but I suspect it'll turn out to be more an equipment showcase.
