I've been dropping stedily for 2 days now...3 comments - one says '9' and one says'10' - so why the 5.11? It started at 5.88!

the 5.1xxx is the highest it's been. I have 5 comments, 4 positive and 1 pretty much saying 'this is what I would have done differently.'
I hope your score starts going back up. and good luck with the wedding inquiries! |

That is sick! Really unneccesary! I think there should be a set of rules that say not to suggest a comment, but to demand a comment for all scores, 3 and below. I might be too generous with my scores, most of the scores I give are 4 to 8. Above or below is only rarely, and below 4 must really be DNMC + bad + this must be a mistake. 9 and 10 are only for really extraordinary shots, must meet challenge, be really beautiful, original and good work.
I wish there was a set of rules as for what all the scores should be. I would dare to suggest one, then you can all comment - maybe some day it will be rules?
1:DNMC, blurry, grainy and just so bad it might as well have been done with a disposable camera. Brown ribbon material!
2:DNMC, but slightly better than 1
3:Either DNMC, or it is of so poor quality and/or boring it is not even worth a 4
4:Barely meets challenge, or picture of doubtful quality
5:Mainstream, middle-of-the-road ordinary picture, meats challenge, at least somewhat
6:Meets challenge, slightly better than average
7:Meets challenge well, two notches above average, good quality
8:Meets challenge well, even better than 7, very good quality and only a few glitches
9:Meets challenge perfectly, brilliant idea, original, perfect in anyway, except that one thing that means it cannot be a ten
10:meets challenge perfectly and originally. Perfect. Brilliant. Nice. Add-to-favorite potential.
Alternately, as I have seen some users do, give 2-3 points on various points like:
Meets challenge: 0 to 3 points
Original: 0 to 3 points
Technical: 0 to 2 points
Aestetical: 0 to 2 points
(or something similar)

next comment that tells me that my picture "looks like -censored-"...uraghfrustration. it is a compliment. i understand that. i consider it a very high compliment. but. that's not what it was suppossed to be, i didn't even have that in mind, and no, i didn't -censored-...!

Just out of curiosity, why only look at my entry? Why not vote while you're there?
If I look at your photo, I cast a vote. I have 138 views and 110 votes. Makes no sense to me.
I don't do the minimum 20%, I go the whole way baby! |

Someone must have just changed their minds! 124 votes still, but score went from above to below 6, same amount of votes!
I have wondered whether there are users here who spread around them so poor votes as to pull everyones score down but their own ... every time you give a 10, you reduce your chance of getting a ribobn yourself!

Some people, like me today for instance, vote first and then go back and comment later. This increases your views, but not your votes. |

That's just about how I vote:
1-3: almost never
4: grainy, poor shot, obvious little effort - I always try to leave a comment when I vote a 4.
5: Average but doesn't grab me
6: Nice all around shot
7: Above average and a decent WOW factor
8-9: Best of show, huge WOW factor and originality
10: I think should ribbon - I usually try to give at least one 10, sometimes 3-4 10's.

Sometimes people will look at a picture more than once, but voting can be done only once. |

Only been here since May, but so far looks great. Will probably getting some $ from me soon ;). As long as I can take the heat from the trolls. But yeah, getting feedback is a valuable asset and have been getting this from the user of this site, which I like be it good or bad. Lots a great photographers here :). Would eventually like to be a part of the group :) |

Personally I think there are to many threads debating on the difference is between broken vs. boken while the voting period is going on that has influenced some (many voters).
Now so many voters are confused on how to vote!
