I never tire of seeing quality flower photos. I hope we don't have an anti-flower movement on our hands.

Its not really an anti-flower movement. It' just the whole 'cliche' concept that some people are hung up on. Flowers are common subjects... so are children and pets. Some don't like to look past certain subjects to find the quality of image.
White socks are cliche too, but i still buy them :)

My aversion to "cliche" shots stems not from being tired of them, but from the fact that they are, by definition, held up for comparison against a LOT of other really, really good shots. It is easier to gain a high voting score of "x" with a non-cliche shot than a cliche one.
That said, I too love a good flower shot. |

hmm. thats a good challenge topic. i like flower shots too, but it gets a little tiresome voting on over a hundred of them. |

What welcher says is true. Flower shots have to be absolutely stunning or they won't do very well. Everything, every detail has to be good, or it won't be up to par. I'm glad to see, however, that there have been several flower shots that have gotten ribbons here.
I have yet to see any sock shots get ribbons, however. Correct me if I'm wrong.

That said, we are just at daffodil stage here in Utah. The crocuses are beginning to wane, and today we had the largest snowstorm we've had all winter (it's been very dry this year).
I took a shot of one (a daffodil):

Some of us who are STILL waiting for spring will enjoy a lot of flower shots. In fact I have given every flower a great score in the past few weeks. |

Do you know this song? It is sung as a round:
Black socks,
they never get dirty
The longer you wear them the stronger they get.
Sometimes
I think I should launder them
Something keeps telling me don't wash them yet, not yet, not yet....
