"Sweet Dreams"
The fierce and powerful even have dreams
Sweet ones- like salmon splashed streams.
The sticky feel of honey filled paws
A tasty swipe with berry stained claws.
The fun and games with family and friends
That wrestling match that never ends.
To itch that spot on the old scratching tree
The simple relief rough bark can be.
A grizzly, fearful and strong as it seems
Even in deep slumber can have- sweet dreams.

Jeff
The poem for my pic is absolutely fantastic. That's exactly what I was trying to convey. You paint a beautiful picture with your words.
All of the poems are great actually. Earlier in the thread someone mentioned a book. Is that a possibility? I'd buy one for sure. :-P
I used to write the most horrid poetry when I was younger. lol It's nice to know some people actually have talent.
I can't wait to read what you write next.
What a great thing to read after a long, boring day at work.

here's one from my collection.. this is a glacier in Iceland known for it's mystiqe, it was a place Jules Verne wrote about, and people from all over the world have visited this place hoping to see aliens ;)
Journey to the Centre of the Earth, Jules Verne – Snæfellsjökull, Iceland
Adventure thriller meets science fiction in Jules Verne’s 1864 classic Journey to the Centre of the Earth. The book, quite a voluminous tome, takes the reader along on an eventful journey to the centre of the earth with the three adventurers – the eccentric Professor Hardwigg, his nephew and the Icelander Hans, their guide. The point of takeoff in this wild adventure is a volcanic shaft in remote Iceland. While the encounters, the journey and the events are obviously fictional, the place that leads to them is actually not.
just thought I'd give some background info on my picture, this was taken at sunrise about a year ago.

I have truly enjoyed writing for eveyone but I have chosen to bow out of DPC, for the sake of personal reasons. I hope someone will pick this thread up and continue to write, for it is a great thing that has been started. Thanks for your understanding Jeff |

I'll try to do some poems-for-pics as time permits, but generally they don't come as rapidly to me as they did to Jeff. Any other volunteers out there to share the load? It would be a pity to see this die out altogether.
Jeff, we'll miss you.

I may think about taking some of this also. Jeff tried to encourage me to get back into writing.
Right now, if anyone has a sad pic, I have enough emotion for that to make that feeling come to life in words. |

O wait, yon eager sun,
Our time here is not haste,
A journey below begun
To mark a central place.
Hail, hail thy reddish hue
For it inspires navigation
Snow and chill serves to skew
Fiery origination.
As I, my crew, and foolishness,
Take plunge terrestrially
I say "Go, then, and God bless"
Make haste opposing sea.
For if my men catch flame
And I take hotly end,
Sunset should be your game
When last of us ascend.
So be kindly quick, sweet Orb.
Respect a lesser girth.
Make now to sea accord
As I make for middle Earth. |

here is one that while some may say is just a picture of a flower, says a lot more to me....tranquilty, seperation, could go on but my mind is too numb from reading about Jeff. If you would write a poem from his inspiration.......

I think it is a superb photo!
Poem is one written a few years back, which the photo made me think of:
When you're walking and you're thinking
and you're feeling all alone;
when it seems your world is lacking
the one soul-mate you've not known,
I ask you then to feel the breeze
as it touches on your skin,
sending senses of caresses
from my breath that's there within.
When you're walking and you're thinking
and it seems the world looks grey
and thinking that no other one
is aware of your dismay,
I ask you then to hear the trees
as they rustle up their leaves
for in that voice I'm whispering
that I'm sharing in your grieves.
When you're walking and you're thinking
and you're looking at the ground,
with mind in locked oblivion
to the beauty that's around:
I ask you then to search the sky
as it paints your night or day,
for under that same canopy
see me reaching out your way.
When you're walking and you're thinking,
know that whilst you there travers
that someone here is walking too
who knows of your universe.
I ask you then to know that I
would enjoy your company
and would not walk to pass right by
the one soul-mate you might be.
I know, it's not quite 'perfect' for the photo - but someone else, hopefully, will write something 'just right'. |

I hope Shutterpug and wavelength don't mind if I have a go at this...
I am the late morning sun,
but a stem leads to a red vase.
What I am is not who I was,
but in your eyes both are one.
From a red sky I rise,
following a green line.
I get taller all the time
as you lower your eyes.
I am a shower of light,
I steal the focus from the world.
I am unrolled, unfurled
from you, my wheelwright.
I am the thought, and you were my mind.
I am right now. I am left behind.
(poems for pics is once again open for business...)
edited... funny how I just now realized what this poem is truly about. I changed the "for" to "from" in line 12. It makes all the difference in the world.

Anyone have some pics they want poemed? Post 'em here, we have volunteers standing by :-)

Got one for you guys. Their anniversary is coming up, and I'd love to make some sort of composite with a poem
Background: rehersal shot of a piece called 'The Forgotten Land'
They were the 'white couple'
Don't nees to include any of that, just s little about where it comes from and who they are...
Thanks in advance!
Edit: before the grammer police find me!

Had this one on hand, it fits the "forgotten" theme and to an extent the "couple" theme:

As if. Perhaps. Because. When all̢۪s been said,
we only can remember to forget,
and in forgetting, lose the thing we loved.
But simply in the losing we can find
the limits of remembrance, and forgive.
As if. Because. Perhaps it̢۪s all been said?
Yes, we remember that, if little else —
and of such else, no stuff of consequence.
And we forgive. Forgiveness is the grace
that bears us graveward in a fog of light.
As if. Perhaps. Because. It̢۪s all been said.
Remembrance is a virtue thrice ignored.
Conceive a thing, and lose it. Come to love
naked of misdirection, unabashed.
Remember to forget. The light. The fog.
