OK, I was just curious how many challenges people entered in 2005. Sorting by date, I entered 55 challenges (more than one challenge a week!) with 8th place (98%) being my best finish...
And 4.43 (5%) being my biggest mistake:)
So, I was curious how many challenges others particpated in last year? |

I entered 4 challenges, with a 5.44 average.
All work and no play, I guess.

Ok I entered 43 challenges since 7 August 2005.
My highest score - 6.659 (94%).
Highest placing - 12 (did this a couple of times).
Lowest score - 4.493(7%)
Lowest placing - 273rd.

I only entered 25 challenges in 2005 up from 18 challenges in 2004.
Highest placement 9th place (99%) - 6.6240
and 4.8450 (18%) being my lowest.

I entered 35 challenges in 2005. No top tens, 1 top 15, 1 top 20
Highest score:6.479 and 14th place 
Worst score: 3.948

A bit better as 2004, where I entered 18 times and averaged 5.646 (more fives, less sixes).

I entered 22 challenges in 2005
and I had a good year with 2 ribbons and a highest score for my camera
highest score 7.295 2nd place
other ribbon
lowest score 4.973 (must remember not to enter just to enter)

I entered a grand total of 1 challenge in 2005 -- and I only entered that one because it was so much fun running around a supercenter in the middle of the night with my brothers and a handful of employees looking for the required ingredients. :) Nothing serious, and certainly not my best work.
93/110, 4.858 and 16% -- my all time low. :(
I would have liked to enter more -- there were a lot of challenges I had very good ideas for and a great interest in entering, just no way to do so. At the end of 2003 I stopped entering challenges because my monitor had become so dark it was unusable. At the start of 2005 it died completely, and I was given an old one to get by on. This one is the one I prepared my one entry with (convergence problems that give floating color casts and a permanent oversharp look). Then with a lot of required overtime I am able to get a new monitor -- but since it's required, no time to use it. Then, in the last couple of months of the year my camera starts acting up -- electrical problem I guess, as the timing of the shutter, flash and writing to card are all screwed up.
2006 is looking to be much better -- if for no other reason than there is no where to go but up! :D

Woohoo, I was busy. I entered exactly one challenge and scored a 6.804.
EDIT: Looking at this and the two posts above mine... rubber ducks were popular in 2005.

didn't enter as much as i had wanted, but, all the same, had a pretty good year.
22 challenges with an average of 5.86 for the year (up from 5.41 last year)
hit a buncha pb's with this 8.311 shot
thankfully, my low for the year (4.733) wasn't an all-time low

I only entered 12 this year. The first part of 2005 was busy with the loss of my dad and moving. I am looking forward to hopefully entering many more this year.
I had 1 that placed 4th, 2 top 20's, and 2 very close to top 20 with a 21st and 23rd placing. An overall average 5.856. Goal for 2006 is average over 6.

This was my first year with a DSLR (still hasn't been a full year yet). I've learned so much here at DPC and made what I feel was major, serious leaps in improvement. Thanks, so much to everybody here and I'm really looking forward to this new year and hopefully growing even more...Cheers!

Lowest Score: 4.261 (btw, when I took this image I thought it was pure genius and perfectly executed for Light On White but today it wouldn't get within an inch of a Challenge...it's funny when you look back)

I entered 50 challenges and took 2 ribbons. 2006 I'm hoping to do ~80 challenges and uhmmmmm 10 ribbons.........hey, a girl can dream! :)

Best score at 11th place with a 6.388 & 97% percentile + 2 favs.
Worst score at 604th place with a 3.562 & a 1% percentile.
(this was really me not realizing what people were expecting in the challenge, and my textures did not stand out enough when reduced to a 640x480. I learned a lot of what not to do's from this entry.)

I absolutely loved the Rubber Ducky challenge. Here you had a challenge with all kinds of restrictions which should have absolutely stifled any creativity... and the results were very impressive indeed.

That's sobering; I entered 108 challenges in 2005... I wonder if anyone got in more? I bagged two ribbons, but lost one of them due to inaccurate date stamp on my then-new 20D. And I've managed to continue on my own merry, idiosyncratic course, paying little heed to scores and having a blast as I go :-)

It's true Ray, that was a wonderful challenge. But in case you didn't notice, THIS ducky ribboned in a "real" challenge, "conspiracy", which is impressive indeed.

This year, I slowed down a bit. 33 Challenges, with 7 entries in the top 20%, 2 in the bottom 20% and the rest in the very average middle. Still, it was fun (except for those two stinkers) ;>)
And oh, how I wish I'd entered that rubber ducky Challenge. Way too much fun, you guys had. |
