As a "newbie" wandering through sites this one really caught my eye; the capture of the amazing sky, coupled with the location, yields a very Spiritual quality; I also noticed that this was takent on Sept. 11th; this must've been a pretty dramatic moment; excellent work; this is one of those images that really "speaks" to the viewer. Awesome awesome awesome and ever so powerful.....
Now a favorite, and also you a favorite photographer, as I thought I already had you down as a favorite, but somehow I haven't.
You are now.
Maybe your user name change has confused me, as I was sure I had you saved.....

Oooh what a beautiful picture. I often will look at the sky and see the light and clouds causing the most heavenly scenes and I think "I wish I could photograph that" at the time. You have here scenes like this remind me how very insignificant we are in this very big world. The nurting and love the heavens are giving these plants combined with your title really make the shot for me. Well done.

What a gorgeous shot.
It deserves to be in a gallery somewhere, 8' x 10' on a huge wall.

This is a true definition of a dramatic image.
Yes, there are a few "things" like halos and sensor spots, but I have come to overlook much of it as it is what we face in small, low-resolution digital imaging and basic editing.
This is truly a stunning photograph!

I love it. This would be possible in advanced editing but in basic editing it's really hard to do.

Hi, I chose this photo as it appears to be your best, at least on this site.

First, I would have scored this as a 4. Why? there is too much contrast in this photo which leaves a lot of detail to be desired. Granted, the subject, according to the title, was the rays of light coming in from above so perhaps you have turned the contrast up for a reason. There is a significant amount of noise in the sky to the left and I can see what appears to be speckles of dust on your sensor in the upper right to reduce the chance of this, I would have used a larger aperature--using a larger aperature would not have hurt you exposure wise if you compensated with a faster shutter speed... I usually try not to go over F/16 on the 20D These are the technical impurities of this photo.

Now, composition wise... looking past the technical imperfections... Usually a photo with a border sends up a red flag that something is so wrong with the photo that it can't stand on it's own without a border. Granted, borders are nice and they add to the photo when creatively used, but that's just it... it adds to the photo, which takes away from the subject of the photo in question. The composition is really striking... when I see this photo the thought of resurrection comes to mind; as if the rays of light are heaven opening it's doors. The tree in the foreground and to the right is a bit distracting which draws away from the mood you have created here. Had you either zoomed in, or cropped the tree, or moved to your left about 15ft, then I think you would have made a better composition.

This truly is an impressive capture, to say the least. The vastenss of the sky is incredible. The perspective suggests that the people buried here went straight "up" to heaven, into that magnificient relam of patterns and shapes, which you revealed in your excellent B&W conversion. I also like how you managed to use the elements present to create a kind of natural vignette around the scene, framing the elements and keeping the composition together.

Wow...incredible image. The sky is so dramatic, it reminds me of a JMW Turner painting. As I mentioned in the IM, I love the double entendre. Congratulations on your highest score, so far.

Congratulations on your Top Ten finish, Scott!! It is a great picture, well done and lots of pathos, the cemetery road looks like it is leading right to heaven with those wonderful clouds. I feel so happy for you, hope it makes you really happy, too.

Wow. Seriously spectacular.

I remember you mentioning that you might have to go away for a bit due to some personal life difficulties. This is a heck of a picture to take a sabbatical on.

Shoot as much as possible, you have great skill.

A very beautiful b&w landscape. I like the darker sky in the top corners and the light coming down from the clouds. Perfect title too. A favorite of mine now. :-)

Great potention here. I really love the detail on the horizon and sky is gorgeous.

I am not so sure about the foreground though, perhaps you could of angled the camera up a little more and got more of that fab sky in and less of the plain grass in the bottom of the image. Reckon its still a good image though, well done!
