Yes. I would like to try a poem for this one, though I would not wish to encroach on the wonderful work that both Jeff and Bear are doing.
 This thread is awesome.

Thanks. Then I will post as soon as the poem is complete.
I am grateful that this thread has re-inspired me to "pick up my pen" again and I have been astounded by the beautiful work done to write so many lovely words that fit well with the equally wonderful photos here.
I could not hope to come close to the work done by you Jeff, or by Bear, but I will enjoy 'having a go'.

		| | Well, I think the poem is ready now .....

Deep in the recess of my mind,
 there, images of you unwind
 releasing strands of memory,
of spoken words and times when we
 experienced, as one, that bond
 of love transfixing the fondness
between us. A father and son,
now divided – eclipsed upon -
you̢۪re hid, yet still seen in the light
 radiating from me despite
the shadow which speaks of my loss
and marks the space we cannot cross.

Sometimes I feel like half of me
is torn away, but then I see
some part of ‘you’ which makes me whole.
One man, complete within my soul.
You will remain with me and, though
no longer may we touch, you know
my prayer will cut the veils which keep
apart our world and we will meet
 unseen within a special place
(where dark nor light exists), by grace
of god, touching hand to hand
across the void – embraced we’ll stand.

 Golden Breeze

A golden breeze of light, glistens across
the water, as the fowl fly in the coolness.
The rocks lie still under a blanket of snow
as though, they sleep with dreams of long ago.

The clouds break for one last glimpse of
the setting sun , that shines its love.
The stillness of the moment is refreshing,
the beauty of the early evening, breathtaking.

Off in the distance as the radiance of a candle,
shadows form of splendor and symmetry with ease.
The land is as a grand mantle displaying the
majestic rays of the sun's golden breeze.

 "Scared"

She thought it was safe to go alone.
She thought there was no danger
but in the night she hears a step
from the foot of some lurking stranger.
He comes to her from behind.
 Is he violent and deranged?
But she had an ease of mind
when he simply asked, to have a dollar changed.

 Shorewrack

There is a harsh, a strict, cartography
to love we cannot master without grief.
We start our journeys hopeful that the sea
is clearly marked, as buoys mark a reef
that sailors outward bound and full of dreams
might make fair passage — so, to us, it seems

(in love's first flush, when we set sail and leave
our shore behind) that we will always ride
the surge of our desire. We never think
that love's vast sea gives us no place to hide,
nor roof nor shelter to wait out the storm,
nor hearth nor kindling that might keep us warm,

that we two sail alone, and must depend
each on the other; that we must be strong
enough to keep despair and fear at bay
against the coming of the uncertain day,
nor least of all that we might founder too,
shorewrack on the mud, like this abandoned shoe.

 "Frosty Joy"

With a frosty nose and eyes that glow
she tells what simple joys bestow.
With a face of glee she sings to me
the happiness that I can see.

It's the simple things that children want,
ice cream always hits the spot.
So a chilly chin, a melting grin, employ
and find yourself young again, in a frosty joy.

 Home Again

 Eight days out of Monterey
Held fast to the windward shore
 The final passage charted
 Home from the worldwide tour

 The adventures now behind me
 The perils all traversed
 Asway at this quiet moorage
 In golden memories immersed.

I can't tarry long here, though
There are challenges yet to meet.
As long as I am seaworthy
 My log stays incomplete.

I hear the sea lanes calling me
 To places I've never been
Distant lands and sun drenched isles
 Then back home again.

 "Insurrection"

She flaunted her beauty before the beast.
 Taunting him relentlessly.
He couldn't see beyond his own lust
that she was corrupted by vanity.
 She talked of sweet love
 and enticing dreams.
She gave him a false hope
 yet hid her fatal schemes.
 So she twirled and danced
 and mocked his affection.
 She tore at his heart
 for the sake of insurrection.

He gave his heart to her
 He called her beauty,
 but society didn't approve.
 They called him the beast.
Aristocracy turned her love against him.
Now she hunts him for sporting game.
 The dogs hound him relentlessly,
 so he runs and runs,
'til he can run no more.
He turns to face his adversaries,
 to battle the deadly advance,
but to realize he is running, from his own vengeance.
