Lens flare gets dumped on in a big way, especially here. Why not have a challenge where lens flare MUST be part of the image? Get out those crappy flary lenses and go nuts!

Dang, Beagle, I might have to break out the Fuji 4900z for this one. I ain't got no bad glass for the 20D :-) I like the idea though :-)

hey that just reminded me of how they did the lens flare on the new nike commercial that is about to come out w/ sharapova , A Rod and Justin somebody ( a runner for the US olympic team). Pretty cool check it...
As the camera would dolly past the athlete an electrician would slowly dim on a little MR-16 attached to the top corner of the matte box and as the would be sun exited the frame the guy would then dim it down again. This would create a precise flare, i mean it was the color they wanted and it came in and out as they desired without worrying about actual placement of the sun.. Cool huh?
ps-the commercial is not out yet. we just finished shooting it this past wednesday. |

Could somebody please post an example with lens flare? Not sure I can get my brain wrapped around the concept this morning... Sigh. I guess I need to exchange it for a new one!

It'll be the classic case of now that you want flare, you can't make your lens do any! |

I LOVE lens flare. I don't know why more people don't!
And one photo from this site that I LOVE that's all about the flare.

This was an attempt to violate several rules in one photo.

That's a pretty good idea for a challenge. Probably won't be able to create when we actually want it! LOL |

This pick got crapped on in the color portrait challenge... guess why...
And
it was taken with the 70-200 f/4L , proving that you can get falre without the use of "bad glass"

Put a cheap UV filter on your good glass? |

I like this idea for a challenge.
I used lens flare here. A few voters didn't like it. But I did.

I liked this one, but didn't do well in a strong challenge:
