Challenge: Landscape II (Basic Editing III)
Camera: Olympus E-500 EVOLT
Lens: Olympus 14-45mm f/3.5-5.6 Zuiko Digital ED
Location: Standley Lake, Westminster, Colorado
Date: Nov 3, 2005
Aperture: F/7.1
ISO: 100
Shutter: 1/160 sec
Galleries: Landscape, Black and White
Date Uploaded: Nov 3, 2005

This was taken out at Standley Lake, which is 10 minutes away from my house. There is just so much to photograph out there. There are actually 5 trees in this location. 1 off to the left and 1 to the right. Right behind me is the lake.

Shot this against the sun (top right.) I know that bright sky shots generally don't do well, but I like it. So I'm going with it.

The sun spots are on purpose.

PSPX edits:
Slight rotate, crop, resize, clarify, contrast, convert to B&W, noise removal and add border.

Great finish my friend! You can scratch that 6.0 goal off your list ;) Good job! I scored this pretty high too.

Lovely composition and the minimalism is extra special for this image ;)

one of my favorites in this challenge - you've captured more than just a landscape with this image - it reminds me of a pencil sketch or maybe an ink drawing - (slight spot and circle shadow ??? in sky a little distracting) real nice work though :)

It's a lovely photograph that is a little spoiled by the fact that the right hand tree is broken. Somehow this imperfection interrupts the harmony of the scene for me, and diminishes my enjoyment of it. Not your fault, of course (unless you broke the tree), but it does make the subject less worthy. Other than that, you've done a beautiful job with composition, capture and processing. The subtle gradient in the sky is especially nice. 7

I like it. As a beginner I'd like to hear how you took the shot and processed it. Some may not like the light effects, but I do.

Cool B&W, shame about the lens flares.

it's a great shot. thought the rightmost tree could have been excluded because it's so loopsided. it creates a void in that area of hte picture.

Captivating silouette that I think would be stronger with the sky cropped out.

Good, interesting b/w shot among those rich colored. Flare spot and rings killed the sky. Pitty...

I like this. sO different from the rest. Some may not like the lens flare. But actually do! (8)

I think the lens flare detracts from the otherwise well done photo.

One of my top three photos.

Very nice of you to take a more "Ansel" feel to the landscape challenge. I really like the way you honed in on a subject. Very hard to do in landscapes.

I went more pastoral with my shot. Your photo is one of the few this week that I said "I wish I would have gone black and white with mine"
