Still working on it too. Yesturday was hilarious, decided to do 'the formal portrait'.....yeah right! Poor Bailey got so confused, she couldn't work out what I wanted her to do......she waved one foot, then t'other, then the first one again. She's so used to being asked to do something when the camera points at her, not just sit! She's my main model girl for most of the spca ads, so generally holds money, signs, buckets, shakes hands......does something!! LOL
Best bit..... when I got everything onto the computer later realised I'd used the wrong camera settings. Too shallow dof!! Ahhhhhh well, always tomorrow!
Hey Charlie, hope all is well with your close family and they're not affected by the 'ongoing family emergency'.

Thanks Sue I guess i can say cos no one is ever likely to know who he is. He has depresion and everynow and again he gets really bad and I have to go and be on suicide watch. Not very pleasant but it works! He lives about an hour from me so it can be a bit disruptive but I am very happy to do it whenever he needs me to.He is much better now so thats great :)
Yes my dog Nermal gets confused too and now he just runs in the other direction when he see's me with the camera and then the cats always walk in front of the camera getting jealous I think! The things we do!! |

I have been moving my studio back into my office, which entails cleaning out my office and doing some major moving of items and removal of others. Right now I'm between and dining room and a office for a studio, meaning, it's NOT THERE YET!

Still trying to get SOME kind of shots daily though |

Hey everone,
I got off to kinda a rocky start. Somethng like:
Nov. 10th- *logs on and scrolls down to forums* "Hey, a 30 day challenge. How cool. Oh, wait a second....I signed up for that!"
Yeah, so kinda scrambling to catch up! But I my cats are being VERY cooperative, atleast.

I'm still in. Been pretty diligent actually. :)
Was trying to follow joynim's family emergency and either I am misunderstanding or she is standing suicide watch on her depressed and confused dog, Nermal?

...Oh, I get it now. Nevermind. :)
Looking forward to the results.

Still going. On a couple of days I shot more than one photo of my subject (my plan was to shoot only one per day). I took him down to Tokyo yesterday... |

I'm still going strong. This has become real fun, and also a good learning exercise. I haven't missed a day yet.
Plus I am doing two series - on of the cat and one of the dog. Cleo, the cat, is strictly indoors - so I have to come up with some new pose each day. So far so good.
Mandy, the dog, had gotten so anytime I bring out the camera, and especially after the first flash, she has to come to the me. So that is making it harder to get the images. I wasn't real thrilled with the one I got on Friday. The weekend has been much better - sunny, but cool so I have gotten outdoor shots both day and I am very happy with both of them.
Now I am starting to think of the format and layout of how I will present the final project. |

I'm going through batteries way faster than usual. Too much flash use - normally I don't use it much at all, but for these photos I hardly ever find myself in a position where I can manage without it(today was an exception to that rule). But I'm definitely using my flash better now than I used to. Well most of the time anyway.
I'm also finding some of my shots to be a bit snapshotty (nice word that!) because I find myself rushed or wanting to take photos in a place where I don't have adequate control over the background. And I'm sure a few people think I'm really nuts when I drag out my teddy bear and start shooting. Hang on a minute, maybe I am nuts. But it's boring to be too sane anyway.

I missed a couple days due to the head cold from hell. The cat has become a serious diva poser and the younger dog freaks out whenever I get near her with the camera. Yesterday I had her all set up ready to take the picture when she decided to lay down and do a belly crawl out of the room. I was laughing to hard to even take the photo. She will have a serious complex before this is over!

Speaking as someone who is going to be doing this for a living, if your dog or cat are food motivated in any way, everytime you bring out that camera, give them a treat. Just set the camera on the floor, get down on the floor with them and let them check it out and give them lots of praise and love and treats. :)

LOL!!! Actually though I think my dog ( Nermal) will be neurotic and depressed after this! I had to laugh at debitipton and what her dog did!! My dog has'nt had to resort to that yet! Of course my cats would never admit to being affected one iota by what I am doing! |

Ugh!! I'm doing terrible. I've only been able to manage 8 shots so far. :-( I'm finding it real hard to be creative, just not motivated enough I suppose. I've been really wanting to take him out and get some good action type shots (big dog) but haven't been able to yet. I'm still putting along but it's more like when the mood strikes. Oh well....

So I have missed quite a few days due to aforementioned family crisis which is still ongoing. Plus I have been very busy with work! I am now turning my thoughts ( but still agonising each day over which one to choose!)to how these photos are going to be presented. What are others doing? |

I am still in it. I am 21/21 today. 9 more to go. And both dogs hate me too.
I take too many shots as well and have a hard time picking, but one usually stands out. I wish I could post a teaser here, but will have to wait.
As for presenting them - haven't decided yet - I could just use my Web Gallery script that just arrnages them in rows & columns. Or I might manually put a page together that would be more interesting, albeit time-consuming. Could also use one of Photoshop's built in web-album generators. We'll see... |

Just plunking them into my gallery for now.....figuring what to do with them later LOL It is very hard coming up with new ideas every day.
The upside is that Bailey sees the camera now, charges off to get a toy cos mummy wants to play! The downside....trying to get her to sit still and pose for 'the classic' portrait! Most 'classic' portraits don't have a very large yellow and purple dumbell stuffed in the side of the sitters mouth!

Lol just counted and only have managed to do 13 of the 23 days!! Will try very hard to do all the 7 days left.
Any other thoughts on presenting these photos? |

I'm playing with simpleviewer for mine. I still want to figure out how to change the title, but have not yet figured out how to get the html code to work there - if it can. I really want a larger font there, and some better spacing between the title and the thumbnails.
For now I'm using the image caption for the code to do what I want.
So far with 23 days gone I've gotten the dog every day and missed the cat once. She went into hiding the day my sons came home from college for the Thanksgiving break. |

I never thought photographing a stuffed toy would be so difficult. Perhaps it's a bad choice of creature, but he's not good at holding things or anything like that (I think I would have done much better with Woody). I'm not that thrilled with my photos - some days I've had to force myself to do something and some of those aren't good at all. I think at the end of this I'm going to choose the 30 best, even if they weren't all taken on different days.
Now that it's nearly over, has anybody got an idea for a different kind of challenge next month? I'm desperate for inspiration.

I've really enjoyed photographing mine. My aim was to take only one photo of him per day, though on some days I've taken 3 or 4. He's easily transportable and can be put in places where a live animal wouldn't go. |
