Well I'm on my third day and I am finding it hard once again too choose. It was a bit harder to get a decent photo this time I had to take over 100 photos. Not sure what exactly I am aiming for. What is probably my best shot is similar to another one I took yesterday. Should I choose this one since it is the best or should I choose one that is completely different.

I'm avoiding that problem by shooting only one picture of my subject each day (it probably helps that my subject is not a live animal). Today, it was in a tree, yesterday in a - well, a very cold place a live animal wouldn't like to hang around in.

Yeah I have 4 live animals I could photograph! At the moment I havent planned any photos. I just go outside and see which animals are around and take photos!! Im lucky it's spring here and gets dark later and later each night.
I suppose at some stage I will have to take the next step and actually plan and execute a photo scary!!!!

Today is the first day I took my photo away from home. (I'm using a stuffed animal small enough to carry in my bag, so I can take advantage of any opportunity that comes my way.)

The photo was taken in a business acquaintance's shop, so I had to ask permission before I could do it - something I'm not very good at. It was pretty embarassing having to explain about taking a photo of a stuffed animal, especially when she asked "why", but I did it, so that was a bit of a learning experience in itself.

Then, to contradict my discovery of the forgotten fill flash on day one, it doesn't work too well when you're shooting hand-held in low light - camera shake still comes into play. In the end I was using full-strength on-camera flash once again. (Think I need an SLR.) My chosen photo is okay, but I'll probably have to edit out a few places where the flash is reflected off glass. Oh well, nobody said this was going to be easy...

Okay, did my shooting for today, now I'm not supposed to post these anywhere until the 30 days are up, correct?

Deannda
Because I know my family will want to see this one, LOL :)

if you have a web space such as smugmug, you can lock the gallery so you need a password to see the pictures...that enables you to allow family etc to see the pics by giving them the password

Not doing too much varity yet as we are practicing for holiday shots but she's being sooooooooooo good, I'll have to go get her some catnip as a reward.

I am muddling along too. First five days, gonna get harder and harder to get different stuff as we get further along!!!! Doing a series of my one barn cat, and doing a series of each of four of my horses, what the heck I am spending the time photographing the one every day so thought I would use it as a stock exercise to shoot different stuff on each of them!!! Maybe being too ambitious but if it gets too much will just continue with the one.

Hope you are all hanging in there

I've been stalking Casey for three days now and even a well mannered Persian has his limits. He starts to squint as soon as he sees the camera ( the nikon 8800 has a red light that automatically comes on in low light and I haven't figured out how to turn it off) I'm learning lots!! Geee

try bouncing the flash off the ceiling...that way its going diretly into Casey's eyes :) She's starting to get into this...when teh tuna comes out, she knows the flash will go off..

well.. Whisper has a new favourite toy now. When I take the lens cap off the lens she comes running now...I used it to distract her and to encourage play the other day and now she thinks its a cool pucklike toy. As long as I dont forget and leave it off th lens, adn where she can get it I think this will be a good thing for the rest of this challenge

Glad someone else is doing more than one pet. I've got a series going on the dog and one on the cat. So far so good - yet to get a full body shot of either - other shots have looked better each day, but plenty of time for that.

Day 6 and no problems so far! Having a stuffed toy does make for a more cooperative model though! LOL!

Still here on day 8, how many others are still at it?
11/14/2005 08:32:36 PM · #167
Still pluggin' away... my poor poor dog. :-)

I'm still at it. I decided to do 3 at once. One of each of the dogs and one of both of them. My niece loves these dogs, so I'm thinking of using this project to put a poster together for her for Christmas.

So - Day 8 and I can tell I need to start getting more creative.

I didnt get anything taken today, we have been under severe storm and tornado warnings all day and it has been raining steadily since yesterday evening. Had to resort to using flash in the barn for the horses yesterday but just ran out of time today with extra chores brought about by having everyone cooped up in their stalls so I have to miss one day unfortunately. Horses and cats are laying low. Expecting snow tomorrow!!!! You gotta hand it to Indiana, if you dont like the weather stick around for ten minutes it will change!!!

Im still at it ,my dog is ready for a nervous break down and my pictures are bad but we are not going to throw in the towel, we are going to see this to the end. ( This is alot harder then I thought it would be)

Still here, some of these are just snapshots as I'm getting busier getting ready for the holiday photograph season but we haven't quit yet!

Are we restricted to just one pet? I ask because I have 5 cats and 4 dogs and some foster kitties so I could really go hog wild on this.

Im still at it. I had a family emergency and had to leave town for a few days so i missed some :(. Back into it though. With just a point and shoot and no equipment am feeling the limitations of what I have got!!!Also I am struggling to think of breative ideas my photos are all starting to look the same!

Day 8 and I only have two shots that I would even consider showing. Hopefully, I'll have a full roster by the end. I may have to take my model on a road trip. He's stuffed so he won't mind the cold a bit.

Adventures of the travelling gnome, uh... I mean bear.
