EDIT

whatever, it doesn't matter, but you site council people shouldn't need someone to click the REPORT POST button every time something is offensive...use your brains people, you're active enough on the forums. You know saying racial stuff isn't allowed. If it is, let me know so I can start.

I for one have not seen the thread in question. There was once a time when I was able to read every thread that came down -- now I miss more than I read, and I'm sure that's the same for the rest of Site Council as well.

Even in cases where we do see the thread, it's often hours later. In the case of this thread, for example, it was threadjacked a mere two hours ago, and has already spiraled into a meta-discussion far off the original topic. The number of off-topic posts is so great that the chances of us ever getting this thread back on topic are remote, and it will probably end up getting locked. If he had instead reported the post, we'd only have one problem thread, not two.

The bottom line is that we depend on the community to help keep the forums under control. The best way to do that is not by playing vigilante and/or calling each other out, but to report questionable posts and give us the opportunity to deal with them while allowing the threads they're posted to to continue on their original topics.

In any case, I'm off topic here myself, so if you'd like to discuss this further let's start a new thread for the purpose.

~Terry

I for one will never meet anyone on any sites that I am involved with. I have my family to think of first before I go out of my way to meet someone, say in DPC.

But, weather a person is a jerk on a site may be just the alternate ego of that person. What if a person is mild, meek, and is a typical nerd at home, at work, in reality.....BUT, on the internet, that person is able to be whom ever they want to be, even a jerk, because in their life, at home, at work, they do not get the opportunity to be who they invision themselves to be.

Yes, I know I can be a jerk, and really no appologies for it, but also, I do have an alternate character base when I enter threads to comment.

If you can honestly say that you don't use the internet as an opportunity to fantasize then good on you, but IMO I am convinced that alot of people do.

Take this into consiceration, now back to what is important, drinking the rest of this bottle of jack to get my day going.

On another note (and yes I do want the feature now if we can have a most-blocked list)...I am nice in person...ask alan or prof_fate or any of the folks from pittsburgh (heck I give out free tickets to pengiuns games and stuff -- they love hanging out with me)....I'm definately not a dork though...but if I was, I wouldn't admit it hahahahahahahah j/k nah really though I'll be one, I don't care. Actually, I think I'm more laid back on the internet than I am in person. I have a REALLY hard time trying to convey a point through writing. In person, I guess I use a lot of body language to talk as well, or tone of voice....on the internet, it's impossible. It's also impossible to tell when your reader is going to get the message, whereas in person, you can read their body language as you're talking to them and see if they're getting it or not, then you know when to shut up.

The only difference between my online self and my offline self is foul language(offline) and my some violent thoughts towards some of the SC members(online). I am the same in any and every situation and I don't care enough about you or anybody else on the internet to have to put on a mask or a different face. Ask di53, slippy, p3wiz, joey etc. Just make sure when your out with me at least one of us doesn't end up going to jail so that person can post bail.
