I guess it's my job to do this thread every week. ;) I just like to see the good photos that didn't get the mainsteam attention. Especially as I'm really only voting and commenting on one challenge per week.


I loved this one, for the very reason others seemed to dislike it. I loved the fade from total black at the bottom into a riot of vivid color at top. I just liked the modern but cozy feel of it.

Really my taste seemed all over the place on this one. Most of my high votes weren't in the top 20 at all! Is it because I'm not a coffee drinker? I don't think I'm really "in the know" on the subject. ;)

What were your favorites that ended lower than you expected?

this happened with my favs as well...with one ranking down within the bottom three pages! (that was just wrong, imo!)

People vote the way they vote. There's really no right or wrong, nor anyone to blame - the majority of people just like some photos better than others.

...I say this to myself as I bite my tongue and refrain from posting the ubiquitous "why didn't this do better?" post for my own Coffee Shop entry. ---just keep smilin' and keep tryin'. :)

I also like to see what people choose as underated...... IMO anything above 5 is a contender or at least a pretender. Underated means anything under 5. So here are mine for comp/colour that I think met the challenge pretty well and I liked :

Thanks very much for highlighting my picture. But I think that it got about what it deserved. It was a good idea that I did not execute very well.

Which gets to the real reason for the reply. How many people go and re-shoot their entries because of / in spite of the feedback they have received? Or do you try to apply the new knowledge to the next challenge, etc.

Most times I prefer photographs that are simple. For the coffee shop challenge, this was a more complex photograph that I loved.
