this is a fallen leaf that just happened to have complementary colors. I taped it to my sliding glass door where the light hit it but not the camera. The veins (cells?) turn out to be the most transparent so that's why the lines are so clear ... As always, I blurred a little DOF with the macro, but I felt that this was actually helpful in describing the object as 3-dimensional. I am imagining that this will score lower than it should (ok I'm biased) - and might be dependent on my a clever yet easilly understood title ... I have been told that it looks like fabric .. but I'm hoping the average viewer will appreciate the "LEAF!" ... my new thing is to predict my score: 5.04120

Seen this before, metatate. Not sure that I am happy with that!! It might prejudice my voting.

And no ... not a "crabby control freak" ... just very serious about voting remaining anonymous. It is what makes this site work so well. A lot of the features of the site are directly in support of this, including the "baghead" one. And yes, by all means, show your friends, as long as they are not voting members of DPC.

Nice detail -- the backlighting really highlights the cell structure of the leaf.

There are lots of color turning leaves in this challenge but this one I love. I grew up in Canada where these colors fill the season but never took the time to look this closely at them. Beautiful.

Seems this was posted in a thread, never a good idea during the challenge.

The simplicity is excellent. I love the detail. I'd do a selective color adjustment on the white background to remove the black and cyan. Other than that - spot on.
