Somone has to do that too :)

ahhhh...but what constitutes EXCESSIVE? is any noise acceptable? apparently many people don't think so.

Don't know what all the hype is about the scarf images there is only 7 out of like 287 pics, not too bad I think. People see something they like and that works and they go with it. And no there is no scarf in my pic. But I still haven't found out what neat image is.

Noise is evil, those tiny splotchy dots that ruin our image. Skin imperfections are also evil. We can't sharpen the image because of them. The most amazing comment I recived on noise was "I don't like it on my TV, I don't like it on your image too". It made my day :))

i thought photography was about art... weather you use neat image, dodge, burn or sharpen, clothes no clothes scarf, no scarf.... laundry basket, no laundry basket,.... whats the difference?..come on.. respect the fact that everyone is an individual and likes to try all different things......

How about a challeng that requires Neat Image or smoothing to the level that facial textures and facial depth of fiels becomes non-existant .... oh ya some have already done that. Several very good photos were really messed up this time by over smoothing and some photos needed a SMALL amont to help them. Oh well live and learn

This thread is yet another lame attempt at influencing the voting, imo.

It seems to have started happening with every challenge. Less than half an hour after voting starts someone will start a thread to pick on a particular composition/processing style.

I do respect that. I seriously do. I just don't see that happening on this site much. What I see are sheep herds following the latest shepard, and I'm not afraid to point it out every now and then, in my own way :)

This was in no way intended to influence voting. Especially since I'm not in the challenge, nor do I have any friends or anything in the challenge I'd care to try and influence voting towards. It was simply one opinion, and people take it where they want to take it, as is the style of DPC.

Well, then starting a thread during voting is not a unique way.. its the sheep way.

agree with you 100%..... seems it's people who's photo may not be scoring like they thought, tend to get a little upset...

Not entering the challenge has nothing to do with it. Your disappointment with a particular processing style is well-known, and telling voters that its a bad style during the voting is a way to influence the voting. You might not have anything to gain directly from it - but it might give you some kind of satisfaction if this thread did indeed change voting patterns.

If you'll kindly point out the times of the week when voting isn't going on, perhaps we could start threads then ?

Oh. there isn't any time like that...

Woah, I'm talking about the *current challenge*. There are only two challenges in voting.. aren't their plenty of other things to talk about? How about complaining about a particular processing style or compostion after the challenge ends.. like is being done for high contrast.

Holy good Pete are you reaching. I started it because I happened to look through the challenge and love portraitures and have a pretty strong opinion about a certain subject. I could wait until after the challenge, but why? As I said, I have no interest in the challenge itself or in the voting whatsoever.. and if people who smoothed a great deal are worried this little (humorously intended) thread is going to destroy their votes.. well.. sorry my opinion is so powerful .

Well, if you can point out a challenge in the last 2 years without plenty of examples of over enthusiasm with neat image, then that might be the 2 day window to have the discussion.

I wasn't actually targeting the voters, if you'll read the original post. I was targeting the photographers, who may or may not listen to me at their discretion. However, I'm sorry that I've made the voters hate neatimage now. I'll be sure to post anti-war, guns, sex, Bush, crime, hate, and clown (man, I hate clowns) posts next, and clean up the world. Wouldn't that be wonderful?
