My dog died.

CEO of my bank (my boss) called me in to his office today... He gave me a Leica M3, assortment of leitz lenses, tripod, meter, flash, the works.

He'd brought it in for me to look at a while ago, and when I told him I loved the camera but just couldn't swing the cash right now (just bought LF). He said he'd thought about it and that it wasn't a money thing for him. It's belonged to his Grandfather, would only continue to sit in his garage and he thought I'd be the best person to have it. So, he gave it to me. =D VERY good day!

Oh that's terrible! I'm so sorry :( --unless you hated your dog because he peed everywhere and chewed on your stuff, if so, party on! :)

Yeah, I was pretty much blown away. Most of the gear is flawless, as if it's never been used. The M3 functions perfectly. Slight wear on top and bottom from meter and case. Nothing big though.

I feel for you and send my condolences in regards to your dog. I have a LARGE (88lbs) Greyhound, named Shakespeare, that I'd trade my new M3 for if it was a choice between him and the camera. He's a wonderful dog. Sorry, man.

I got a recognition award for helping out on a project at work. Normally you get a selection of rinky dink things, but this department had a very nice award selection. I got a way cool beer stein/mug.

Congratulations! That is a heady feeling. Store that feeling away to recall sometime in the future should you ever find yourself in a creative funk. Then, recall the emotions of today and you will be refreshed.

I'm happy! I just got my new Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS lens. I haven't been able to give it a serious tryout yet, just some snapshots around the house, but I already like this lens A LOT! Beautifully sharp images, great bokeh, and the IS really works! I was able to get some very sharp images, hand-held, in low light, at very slow shutter speeds. The only drawback so far is that it's even bigger and heavier than my 35-350L lens, but I think I can live with that.

I also got a TC-80N3 timer remote controller, and a bunch of Cokin 'P' filter stuff (filters, holders, caps, etc). I haven't had a chance to try the remote or most of the Cokin stuff, but I did try the Cokin circular polarizer. So far, I'm very impressed with it. I actually like it much better than my Canon circular polarizer.

Oh yeah, this morning I ordered even more camera stuff. A new Rebel XT, a BG-E3 battery grip, (1) extra battery, (2) 1GB Sandisk Extreme III CF cards, and a couple more Cokin filters. All of this, except the filters, is for my wife's birthday later this month.

I almost have her talked into letting me buy a Meade 10" LX200GPS-SMT Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescope too! I really want to get into astrophotography. (BTW, If any of you are into this, please PM me with any advice you can offer.) I may have to wait a little while for this "lens" though, since it's a hefty chunk of change and I just bought all this other stuff.

It's Friday, the weekend's almost here, and I've got new toys to play with. Happy, happy, happy!

One of my favorite sayings from my late grandmother whenever I was angry or unhappy:

"Well, you'd better scratch a mad spot and get glad."

To my 6yo daughters delight today she found a pink and yellow "Butterfly" as she called it(its really a moth tho) she is so happy to have found it(pink being her absolute fav color- the pinker something is the more she wants it) she asked me to put it on my "putter" so everyone could see her butterfly.

i am happier now because my baby is happy. heres here butterfly that she named "Cotton Candy" because it looks like it rolled in cotton candy.

That is a Super Cool Moth, and a good close up of it. Your daughter would probably get a kick out of posting it on Insectnet.com and having them ID it.
