Hey, let's bust into those negative threads and post irrelevant happy thoughts!

I work at home too. Its great - no worries about people butting in on your commenting time. ;)
Sorry bout the fish - you can have mine - I'm waiting for 4 more to die then I can get lizards. Much more photogenic. For me at least...

Thanks for reminding us of JOY!!!!!!! It is quite the prescription in a world that is often too serious! (I hereby confess guilt in this department.)
One of history's wisest men, King Solomon, king of ancient Israel, once said in Proverbs 17:22, "JOY in the heart is good medicine. Sadness, however, makes you sick." (IMOW="In My Own Words")
One piece of advice that I got in my earlier years always seems to keep my ego at a manage-able size...that is...when I take time to remember the advice.
"Stan, Don't take yourself too seriously! Nobody else does!
Learn to laugh at yourself! Everybody else does!"

Life is so Grand!!!!!!!
Laughing at myself takes up much of the time that I would have misused laughing at others. That great British poet of yesteryear, Robert Burns, once remarked, "Ah, wad some power the giftie gie us/To see oursels as others see us!" I understand that to mean IMOW, "I have one wish...that some Higher Power would give me the ability to see myself in the same way that other people see me."
Agreed! With an ability like that, I could be like Mel Gibson in What Women Want and know what needs the most improvement first.

It was my Birthday and my 10 year old baked me a 3 layer Birthday cake, that she decorated herself. Our youngest ones gave me homemade gifts or items they owned and fought over some of them because they were items that belonged to the other, lol. They're 5 years old, they do some inappropriate things in the name of making me happy, lol. They absolutely beamed with pride when I oohed and ahhed over art projects I know they made during the school year and paper airplanes they made me out of coloring pages.
Also, last but not least, my wonderful husband brought me home 25 roses :) And no I'm definitely not 25.......

Finally some rain, (sorry to all victims of Hurricane Dennis) but the after effects of rain were so badly needed here.
Harvested cucumbers, banana peppers, onions, cherry tomatoes -not the best quality for lack of rain but yummy and chemical free.
First day after boyfriends 13 yr old son went home-after a two week visit.Whew!! Started out with him trying his limits for the first two days and turned out to be quite pleasant after he found that we were fully capable of enforcing the rules and he could have a better time here if he followed them. Plus, I feel that a young soul learned a few things like the value of telling the truth and seeing things from someone elses perspective for a change. Hopefully lessons that will stick with him.
Spent time watching a movie with my own 21 yr old son, talked to my daughter on the phone, made boyfriend happy by removing alot of junk out of the laptop so his programs would run better. All good!
"My boys" are happy too! One of them caught a mouse -check it out.

My Boys

I made my (sometimes sour) boss laugh today!

He brought back jar openers (you know, rubbery disks that give you better gripping power) from a conference. He wanted me to leave them on the staff room tables--free to anyone who wanted to take them. I offered one (of 3) to a co-worker who was pleased to have it. The other two ended up by the coffee station (I was too lazy to go downstairs to the staff room) with post-it notes on them.

On one I put "Free! Take Me! (Jar Opener)"
On the other I put "Free! Take Me! (Frisbee)"

Just before I left work I passed by the coffee station--one was gone. It was, of course, the one that said "Frisbee" on it.

I ammmended the note from the other one by crossing off "jar opener" and writing below it "FRISBEE!"

My boss smiled because I related the story to him and he too-well knows the nature of our staff.

*My kids came home today after a week away from me...for the first time in our lives.
*I made the best bbq ribs for them for lunch.
*My car DIDN'T get smushed when my neighbor's tree fell over into my driveway during a huge storm this morning.

Why today was wonderful:

~My son lost his second tooth, he also beat me in chess
~I worked hard revising an old short story I previously thought was dead. Turns out it's not
~At least 3 people made me laugh today

The sun is shining. No storms here today.
My husband survived a stroke 2 years ago and is able to do most things he wants to do.
We can still take out of state trips and take pictures along the way.
Most of all I am grateful that he has survived and
recovered as much as he has.

My car insurance company (Progressive) was exceptionally kind, curteous, and helpful when I told them about the wreck I had last night (swerved to miss a deer in the road and spun out, hitting both the front and back driver sides against a guardrail - bounced me around quite a bit). Thankfully, I wasn't hurt and Progressive had a claim assigned and an agent calling me within 2 hours, making all the arrangements for me to drop the car off on Tuesday for estimates and repairs, plus they'd have a rental car (pretty much of my choice) ready and waiting for me.

All in all, this morning was a good experience (of course seeing my baby all beat up wasn't - red 2001 Acura 3.2CL Type S). I'm trying to see the up side... :-/

Hey, I never quoted myself before, but I wrote the above yesterday and decided to show the world the photo of my oldest son as he left for boot camp.... so proud of him!

To my 6yo daughters delight today she found a pink and yellow "Butterfly" as she called it(its really a moth tho) she is so happy to have found it(pink being her absolute fav color- the pinker something is the more she wants it) she asked me to put it on my "putter" so everyone could see her butterfly.

i am happier now because my baby is happy. heres here butterfly that she named "Cotton Candy" because it looks like it rolled in cotton candy.

That is a Super Cool Moth, and a good close up of it. Your daughter would probably get a kick out of posting it on Insectnet.com and having them ID it.

That is a fantastic shot of the niftiest moth I have ever seen!

Hey... Happy Day to you Ron for having Kodak POTD today!

Thanks Ron and a big congratulations to you too!! What a great start to the month!! :-)

One of my favorite sayings from my late grandmother whenever I was angry or unhappy:

"Well, you'd better scratch a mad spot and get glad."
