An egg on top 10, 4th place!

This one is pretty creative though, but here it is, once more, making it's appearance.
Then we have another one at the 21st place.

Very subtle image, looking good.

Two more at the 56th and 58th place (not very found of the 58th one, but the voters liked it).
56th ----- 58th
Then comes the egg place at the 59th position.

Idea is good and all, but c'mon, it's all blown out and stuff on the LCD screen, and the eggs are out of focus and very dark. I'm very surprised this image got this score. Nothing against you mycelium, please don't get me wrong.
There were 8 egg shots in the whole challenge (if I did count them correctly). 2 of them are very nice, congrats to the photographers. But the rest IMO, are just EGGS. No "WoW" there.....

Then if you look for a different (???) subject you find all the flowers, buds, or plants. Some good ones, some not as good.

There were several threads and posts complaining about shots involving these subjects, eggs, plants, and also about water drops on glass with a blurred image in the background, "splash" photos, and on.
Lets face something. We all love this (including me), but don't you get tired of seeing it? And some of them don't even look good (I'm not even going into technical details on them, they just don't look good).

Then you give it another look, and scattered around the challenge results page you find a whole bunch of OUTSTANDING images, sort of unique ones, that got pretty low score....... lower than EGGS.
Want a visual example of it:

This image is just amazing. All 15 comments were good ones, ppl seemed to love it. And then right above it, on the rank, there is an EGG.

There's also Emergence, by Artyste:

It also seems to be hatching out of something, just like a "chick out of an egg". Look through the photographers eye. This is creative, that's thinking outside the box (damn he's even coming out of a box). And it barely missed a 3 digit score, placed at 97th position.

I'm not writing this all because my image is at the 89th place. I mean, I like it. It's not an egg, neither a flower. All right, the fingernails could have been trimmed, but my brother is just a sucker, when helping me out with something is the matter. The lighting on the fingers shouldn't have been that harsh. And no, he wasn't holding a neon EGG in his hands.

We all need to start judging the images, not only based on the technical side, neither only on the "WoW" side. Lets mix it all together, shake it well and analize all aspects of the images we vote on. Maybe, devote more time to each and every image. Come on, there's a full week to vote on the images, why the rush?

Sorry for the long post. I kinda needed to let it go. I guess I'll never eat an egg anymore, LoL. Not even if it was "designed", neither if it's the most "innocent" egg in the world.

It's just sad that a whole bunch of pics get scored lower than they should!

EDIT: forgot to mention that Xion's profile page is not showing his blue ribbom for this challenge. There must be a bug.

no offense taken; my entry was admittedly horrendously rushed and dissatisfactory to me. but hey, for 45 minutes start to finish with less than 90 seconds to review and edit pictures, it could be a lot worse... though I despite pictures that look rushed. WOOOOO HYPOCRISY!

I'm honored to have been mentioned here :)

Actually, 97th place isn't too bad, considering.. there were some technical flaws with the lighting in my shot that could have been improved with a little more time (that I just ran out of).
I'm happy.. the comments far outweighed the result, and I even got a favorite.

lets compare two shots side by side:

---------- AND ----------

Do I need to write anything about it?

Well, it's rather clear to me where they got the egg idea from:

LOL. Just kidding.. I took that for "Backlighting" way way back when.

Scuds,
I always try to score on both technical and "WOW" factor. IMO WOW will make up for some flaws in a photo, but if it's poorly exposed or poorly focused, it's score will go down. WOW comes first, then the technical issues come into play.
