This was inspired by a photo by photographer David Nitsche. Here is the link to his photo...

I saw it on www.photo.net a while back and I loved it. I've been waiting for a challenge to use this idea.

This photo was lit by window light from the left. I held a large piece of white foamcore board to the right, in order to bounce some light onto the right side of the egg.

Post Processing: crop, levels, brightness, contrast, selective color to darken the blacks, resize, unsharp mask, save for web

Super interesting take! I love the simplicity of the egg amidst the more technical aspect of the metal vice (?). The lighting is very effective as well.

Like the simplicity of this photo. Love how you cropped it...nice compact composition. Like the soft lighting on the egg, and the glassy reflection.

Neat! nice lighting, balance, and great use of reflection. The shadowing on the base of the egg helps to keep the focus right there! The use of shadows on the "works" keeps it from detracting form the focal point. Nice.

another egg!!!! think of something else besides eggs. They should make a challenge about eggs. only eggs. Pretty picture.

Excellent spin on the tired egg theme. The use of the caliper (?) makes this image come alive. That and the wonderful composition, crop, clarity, and lighting. Well done!

Excellent. Sharp and well lit. The reflection really does it for me. I'm sure you will place very high. The only thing I see is 2 light areas going the length of both sides. Superb.

I know a lot of folks are sick of egg shots, but this is beautiful! The tonal changes on the egg are increadible. Good choice using a brown egg. Very interesting picture. Fits the challenge well (also could fit the stock quite well as well). Good job

The so much hated egg makes it's appearance, but in a very lovely way.
I really liked that you didn't use a white one! GJ
