Got 40 more comments in and submitted for "....In The Beginning" Challenge. Man I have been busy today. I have 134 more photos to comment on. Hopefully I didn't bite off more than I can chew.

Meanwhile my "Cemetery" entry

Still only one comment.

Appreciate your comment, Rex. 7 total now for me. However, my photo is not doing as well as I expected... +0.5 of a point would be really nice :-)

Not doing as well as I would like but just received the most fantastic feedback from somebody.
"I just love this picture, this is my choice for a blue ribbon, hopefully a top 10 for you."
Ask me if I'm smiling from ear to ear... :)

Sadly, my photo is not doing as well as I would like. Even though I believe it to be one of the most unique photos in the challenge. I guess I can be proud that not a single other submission was quite like mine.

*shrug*

It's kinda a bummer, I hoped to at least be a little higher than I am. I still believe I was onto a good and creative idea. I couldn't fully realize my idea do the lighting (the sun just wasn't in the right spot at the right time and God refused my prayers to relocate it...*lol*)

I do believe it's possible that some could be voting my photo low, believing it's photo-shopped, when in fact it's genuinely natural (okay as much as digital allows).

I often think I am too creative in my ventures...but I know that creativity is my strongest strength. Sometimes it's hard not to get daunted. On the flip side, I usually receive good advice and input from experienced photographers and that is truly worth the effort. Especially, when they tell me I was close, they really liked where I was going...but I just needed a little bit more or was off technically/quality.

It's sorta like my lighthouse photo... which I believe (and other's seemed to agree) was a good concept. But the blurriness and technical errors and position errors detracted. However, I learned a LOT from doing that photo. Use of polarizers and how it affects cloud and sky appearances.

Well, hopefully I'll get good feedback. I asked for a critique on this submission. Really looking forward to hearing such...

At 14:47 (US PST) on 28th March, a voter gave my "Cemetery" photo a 1. Of that voter, I have one comment and would make just one request, "The good end of the scale is 10, not 1. Please go back and recalibrate your vote to correct your obvious confusion." Thanks!

How can you tell that you got a 1?

many people decide to vote on all the entries... would you want to write 281 comments on one contest? :P

Could be someone who voted earlier and came back and commented later, possibly at the same time a new vote came in.... just a thought. I know that's what I usually do, save my commenting until later. Some people will write something like "returning to comment" in their
comment but some do not. So it's hard to say if the person that commented was the one who actually gave you the score at that time. Could be a possibility.

Edited to say... just looked at your profile and since you've been a member for almost a year, I'm probably not telling you anything you don't already know, sorry. :-)

Above 5 for a few days now. A little victory but one I'll take.

Talk about thinking small?

Regarding comments: For myself the vote is enough of a comment. I comment on occasion but don't always have the time. Work, work, work.

I wonder how many people enter things that they don't already know wherein the problems might lie. It seems as though there are many posts stating things like "I knew this would score low" or "I though people might hate this", " I probably shouldn't have entered this" etc. so I assume most people must have some clue what they've done, right or wrong.

I'm also finding that in or around 6 comments, I've heard most all of what's to be said, in terms of helpful critique. At least enough to see where I may have went wrong, a la DPC voters.

Well done! I've done it a couple of times and it's certainly hard work.

I have not started voting YET but I am hoping to get some of it done today. from the comments I've gotten and my score I can see that a lot of people just take a quick glance at the photo and leave very little for artistic editing in PS.

Good for you! I am sure folks who receive them will appreciate it.

I got an interesting comment on my cemetery entry. It went like this:

"I am making two passes on this Challenge. I will vote on your photo then return later(before voting is over) to comment on what I like and dislike about your shot. You can take the comments however you wish and I will try not to be mean. Just don't take it the wrong way. "

I didn't mark it as helpful, but it will sure push up the comment count of whoever gave it (commentor id hidden until voting is over).

Hmmm, I have the exact same comment, and nothing from rex07734. Rex, are you sure you are finished?

That would be me. Had to hide myself during the voting and commenting process. I received like 15 e-mails of people explianing their photos to me before I made the second round. They were using enough detail that I knew which one was theirs so I hid myself. I have went back and double checked and have missed some on the second go around. I will fix that tonight. Thanks for letting me know 2Shay.

Not doing this to push up my numbers but to give people something to think about. Before voting is over I will come back and comment on your photo further. I have found that I missed a few on the second go around. I will fix that when I get home today.

I sure hope that voters don't make any "grave" mistakes in their assessments of images in this challenge.
