I some what agree, If your any where close to meeting the challenge, I beleive you should review the image on its own technical merit/appeal. Its pretty much what I did in the Bored challenge. I think we get a little over critical at times......imo |

i didnt enter this challenge but saw some good photos..some of the photos with just a headstone shot are a little boring.

I quickly went through the images and was pleasantly surprised by the quality and variety. Good job everyone.
I'll be happy to stay above a 5 for a day or two.

up to 5.24 in the last hour.
I can't speak for all members or non-members, but I really worked hard on this entry. I took the whole week scouting locations and ideas. I took special care for composition, mostly so it wouldn't just be a headstone or something 'lame' just because it was in a grave yard.

I hear ya, too often we expect too much from these shots. It's almost as if submitting parties are expected to be perfect. I do believe photos are judged on just that, a level of perfection.

I will =) I voted on every single photo, now I am going through and writing comments... going through a second time gives me a chance to re-evaluate each entry and see if I scored too high/low. I've only commented on 5% so far... hopefully by this evening I will get to everyone. I did give out a lot of high scores... I was very impressed with most of the entries.
I just find it hard to believe how last night I kept getting 6s and 7s and now I am starting to get 4s... I really want to know why people are giving me a 4. I hope to get lots of comments by the end of this. I have 3 really good ones so far, but they do not explain such a low score. |

| I have a low score, but I expected it. This is one where I knew I was entering something DPCers wouldn't really like, but that I personally did like, so I'm just happy that a couple of people seem to have enjoyed it :) It's pretty much a toss up when I enter photos that I personally find to be very "me" and pleasing to myself... but this one's sticking pretty close to, if a bit higher than, the score range I expected. |

Most of us vote first pass, comment on the second. Most appreciate a well thought out comment as opposed to boiler plated ones. You and others will in time get the ones that will aid you and likley will see comments made for others you can apply to yourself, I know I have. Good to see you in the mix.

Yes. But it's not a "bad" thing. It can benefit you; if there is an element that appears to be "illegal" then many voters will not score the photo as well as they otherwise would. They're uspposed to assume everything is legal and vote accordingly, but many do not. So a "validated" stamp can help your scores.
In one of my entries I got validated halfway through and my vote average climbed almost a point and a half after.

| Thanks, Robt. My photo was so simple and not a lot was done to it at all. I'm wondering how anyone who knows anything about photoshop would think it was illegal. I'm waiting now to see if I'm validated. |
