I have mostly skipped experimentals and abstract works recently.

150 out of 241, 38th percentile but now 10 favorites:
My personal favorite image of my abstracts, despite the score, to me it was a milestone Zeuszen really liked it (and he's a very selective voter):

Hey, I'm a very selective voter and I gave that one a 10 also :-) Put it in my favorites too, I think. If not I am going to...
And Laurie was robbed big time....

Yes, and respected for your opinions and work. Thanks. :)

....Concerning your 1st one....when I first looked at it I thought it was a Hershey's Kiss on a window ledge! I see the bird now! For me, it's like one of those pictures that you look at for a while then BOOM....you see it! I like it!! Can anyone else see the "kiss"? Or is that just me looking too hard at my laptop??

I more than anyone feels your pain on this one! My all time favorite photo of my own is a duck shot that I also thought was great for the challenge, but I was very wrong!!! Maybe people jsut don't love ducks as much as I do! LOL

My Tripe
by James
Come on, it's not all the time I get all artistic and poetic. Appreciate it!
First entry, still one of my favorites. Too subtle, I guess. Meh.
The whole religion thing. You know how that goes.
5.4 isn't bad.... but I mean, I even had a camera in the shot. How awesome is that?
Another artistic poetic sort of moment, another unappreciation. I must've misenterpreted "teh bokeh"
I wasn't expecting it to do well, honestly. I'm happy it finished over 5. It wasn't supposed to be America or Ohio or anything, but some people read too far into it. Happens to me sometimes. *shrugs*
For more tripe, check my portfolio. I'll spare you of the rest here. |

This received least number of comments for any challenge pic I have submitted to date..

what a great thread! i absolutely applaud all of you for submitting these images, because, even though they may be grossly under-appreciated during the challenge, little by little, they collectively work to open up the eyes of the rest of us as to the marvelous things that can be done with these little magic boxes!
as you can see here, your works ARE APPRECIATED! keep pushing, keep trying, keep submitting!!
sometimes, the only solace may be in a single comment from the one person who gets it. sometimes it may be that the commentors score is 3 points ahead of the average score.
there are far, far too many images that will never get the recognition they deserve in a challenge--but don't let that dissuade your. whatever it is that moved you to make the image, let that be what motivates and guides you. do NOT give in to the petty whims of the masses. at the very least, if you cannot bring yourself to put it in a challenge, put it in your portfolio and share it with us.
keep it up! i can't wait to see what you all do NEXT!!! |

Good post, Skip! I have been told a few times that I was the only one "who got" their photo by someone, and it has really made their day to know even one person saw what they did. And I get so tired of seeing the same "formulas" (I understand that we all have to try all these techniques), so the introduction of some other "visions" are something I really thirst for! It really broadens my own vision.

I thought this one would have done better.
And yes, I was thinking of "Cowspace" when I was taking the series of pictures. |

this is my favorite photo submission thus far - not well-received by the voters, however.

Other than the picture of my grandmother, this is by far my favorite submission...

...and it bombed. It's exactly like I wanted it, and cyniczny's comment is exactly what I was going for.

I try to never look back at things I have done that people have not liked. Instead, I try and do things now that I can be assured people won't like. So to see my fave "misunderstood piece of art" you'll have to look at my Pain entry - which should be available for your mass public disapproval at about midnight.

dont know why this did how it did, no constructive feed-back was given to me (not even in a thread posted about it). |

This one has the feeling I like to capture in a photo. I guess a lot of monitors were to dark to see it well. It is as clear as a bell on mine. I realize it is difficult to get the voters to stop and analyze a picture. I just had to put it among my Challenge entrees knowing intuitively it would do poorly.

I thought this would have done better, but maybe it's just because it was an emotional shot for me, I don't know.
