The two photos were taken last Friday and I'm posting because... well simply because I like them. In the first I saw bright soft sunlight coming in the window, the dark fabric and frame of the couch, and Katie as this interesting line between the two. Not sure how it works in reality, but it's still good in my head.

In the second image I like the lines created by the shadows and the way a sliver of sunlight barely lights her right eye.

I love when somebody can photograph female beauty without being so obvious that nipples are poking you in the eye...

These are soft, beautiful photos that really accentuate Katie's beauty!

Great job, Nusbaum!

btw, who's Katie?

Nothing wrong with nipples poking you in the eye! ;)

Great shots, I like the light!

Katie is a friend's daughter who asked that I help her put together a basic modeling portfolio. I'm no expert in the area of shooting models, but we agreed to learn together when time permits. So, while I attempt to shoot images for her portfolio I also get to shoot the simple portraits, like these, that I enjoy.

The second one is particularly great. very nice work. I'm still working on making my subjects comfortable while I figure out the new camera and worry about composition etc. I admire your ability.

Nice, slightly provocative with a touch of sexiness about it - or is that just me :D (body language)

Very soft and lovely tones. Really like it.

I think she will be very happy with both of these. I agree with thatcloudthere on the first one. She comes across as very attractive without having to go over the top.

Nicely done imo.

...

It works - and not just in your head. One question about your lighting setup though, if you don't mind. Her face is in the shadow, but is not harsh; did you use a reflector or some other light to soften it up? ... or was the lighting really that great?

There is a happy medium in all things. In this image, the wardrobe was chosen well, including the lack of undergarments. A bra would have destroyed the lines of the image the body shape, folds of the cloth and seam are creating. I think I would have been tempted to clone out the vertical seam under her chin however, as it creates a break in the flow as well.

A very well done image.

In this case I was lucky because there was light from a window on the other side of the house. I did have to move some furniture around so the couch was in the light and then bring the shadows up a bit in photoshop.

This would be my pick of the two (and I like them both). This image is a perfect balance of shadow, light and detail. Well done.

Ditto to all the comments so far. These are beautiful shots. I really like how her face is still very clear in the first photo. The lighting there is done very well.

I don't know how this will come across to you. Your portraits have a level of maturity about them that is very attractive. You and the model seem to have a comfortable relationship that shines in these. When I look at these it's more like I am a part of the scene with no trace of the technical aspects of the capture disturbing the view. Very good work, to make this viewer forget these are only pictures.

Very nice work. I like the woman's expressions, peaceful and attractive. My one nitpick is the position of the left hand in the first image. I would rather see it higher up resting across her stomach or not there at all. It looks a little out of place where it is. Keep up the great work.
