Drowningby drewmediaComment: Surreal. I do wonder what that guy is doing. Could you have rotated it to make that building parallel to the side of the frame without cropping out the guy? |

Belly Dancer, Meeker Daysby sheyingshi88Comment: I like the kid in red on the side. I don't like the guy behind the subject, though. And though you couldn't move them, the tent support and microphone are distracting. |

Lady in Blueby pjangelComment: Nice blurred background, but allowing you to make out the crowd definitely gives it a more urban feel. The lighting is a bit sketchy...the shadows across her body are a bit strange, but probably out of your control. Good job. |

Barmaidby GinaRothfelsComment: Nice composition. I like the city poster behind her and the bottles off to the left. It's a little bit not as sharp as it could be...I think it gives it an interesting feel, but I'm not sure others agree with me. |

City of the Deadby arippsComment: The color seems to be a bit blue on my monitor. I think compositionally it would have been better to try to focus on a few less of the tombs...but then you probably would have risked people not calling it 'city' enough. The tree makes a nice frame, but that black loop on the side is sort of distracting...can't tell if it's part of the tree or some sort of statuary. |

Industrial Backwatersby ManicComment: Ooo...old mill canal? B&W works well, I think. I don't know if you could have gone to the other side of the water, but I think I'd have liked to see a bit more of the facade of the building. There seems to be just a bit too much sky in this photo for my taste. |

Charlene on the MTAby KimblyComment: Title comes from an old political/folk song called "Charlie on the MTA" which was written around the time they raised the fare on the Boston subway from 10 cents to 15 cents...Charlie only had a dime so he was forever stuck on the subway and couldn't ever get off. Taken in the Boylston street station in Boston, part of the Green line. I wanted to capture the feeling of rushing to get on the train before it leaves, because it's a darn big part of my life here :-) Out of a bunch of photos I took, I liked this one the best because the people on the train were fairly sharp, and the woman on the left had a sort of otherworldly blurred glow. I chose the low perspective because it created the converging lines of the doors, which to me represented the confinement of being on a packed subway more than straight vertical would have. I used a mini tripod to ensure that part of the image was sharp. I chose B&W firstly cause my camera didn't have an appropriate white balance setting and the colors were a bit on the green side, and I later when I saw that the B&W emphasized the texture of the woman's blurred outfit. I had other 'prettier' photos I could have submitted, but chose this one because it best represented my view of city life. |

Rules & Regulationsby DigipixerComment: Interesting repetition of red truck, red mailbox flag, red shutters, red gutter (?), and girl in the red shirt. |

Monday ...............on 3rd St.by rajronComment: I like the light...it feels like a Monday morning. Could you have stepped back a little and zoomed in so that you wouldn't have gotten your own shadow in? At least that's what the thing at the bottom left looks like to me. |
