Another shot where I had to focus quite closely to figure out what it was -- a violin or similar stringed instrument, si? Because of that, I'm not fond of the image and it didn't strongly evoke 'sound' for me, although it is on topic.

Ahh, good, a guitar picture that actually features a player. This was one of the ideas I ended up rejecting (you did it better than I would have anyhow), so obviously I think it's on topic. I like the composition, though I would have liked to see maybe a little more lighting on the front of the guitar/fretboard. What is being played?

Heh, I almost went out to take a photo of a fountain, so I definitely agree falling water is evocative of sound. Something about the photo looks odd -- I suspect in part the lack of colour. Inasmuch as seeing the foam swirl is nice, the clear falling water seems blurry, which is probably related.

Good angle! She looks amused -- I would have guessed laughing or playful yelling if not for the title, although I suppose one can have a playful scream -- but that's fine, it still evokes the concept of sound.

I probably would not have thought of sound without the title, although maybe after giving it a while. It's a well-composed photo but it doesn't grab me in terms of the topic. Highlights on the skin maybe a bit too bright? Hard to tell how much of that is skin tone.

Sound modulation evokes sound. True. In terms of a picture, however, somewhat uninteresting. An electronic equalizer with a cool pattern or background would have made it more interesting.

It took me quite some time to realize this was a harmonica, and I'm still not sure I'm right. Maybe it's the angle, maybe the lighting, maybe a bit of both. It being unclear to me de-emphasized the impact of topic.

Nice wave/spray of water. Too bad you couldn't get a more tightly-focussed shot of it, since there's all this empty space between you and it that ends up detracting a bit. In terms of topic, yes, very evocative, but then, I grew up next to this big wet thing.

Wow, slomo roman candle! That's neat; I love the arcs of light following the sparks, and at least the feel that the lighting is provided only by it even if that's not the case. For me, though, this sort of firework is more visual than aural; I don't consider it off-topic at all but it's not as strong a topical image as it might have been with a different type of firework shot (and will no doubt be stronger for others).
