The repeating pattern of scalloped arches and columns gives a nice visual rhythm to the image. It would be a safe bet that the people there mostly don't notice it because they fail to look up. Good eye to capture this one.

The somber mood of a foggy time is nicely enhanced by the yellowish color. Having the bridge reflection contribute a set of circles adds an interesting and unexpected bit of geometry. Nice composition.

This image draws me in effortlessly -- I want to know more about the man and the place. Nice b&w conversion, wonderful composition. I think it would be a bit stronger with that trace of sky cropped out, but I like it a lot anyway.

Rainbow Abstract

Pure rainbow with no distraction -- a beautiful abstract and exactly on target for the challende. I'm pleased to learn that this is a real rainbow, even if from a garden hose. That makes me feel even better about the high score I gave it. Sorry to see the ranking, which is much lower than I expected, even given DPC's reputation for undervaluing abstracts and less than crysal sharp images.

First impression: cosmic spider. The soft b&w conversion turns the background into clouds and the web into a structure emerging from the moon and descending through the sky. Macro lenses really do open up an entirely different and wonderful universe.
