Guess when you are from a context things seem natural together. Little boys in Africa play with tires, this little guy lives in old town Zanzibar and was standing in front of the door of his house. He sat for at least 15 minutes playing with this old tire, perhaps his only toy. When I look at the picture I see a boy at his house watching people go by, looking for a friend to play with him.

This picture has some great potential. IMO here are a couple of things you could try to add impact. First go with a long exposure (you might need a ND filter to increase your exposure time). That would give the water a nice smooth look. Then you might try desaturating the image thus giving the water and the sky the same tones which would then pop the cottage out. Of course that is just so ideas of what I might have done if I found myself in the same place. Cheers!
