Comment:
I gave this an 8 (same score I gave the blue ribboner). I love the framing, and the light outlining several people (especially camera-girl). I think the blurred man in front helps add a sense of motion - this crowd is moving not just standing waiting for something (although a few are taking a rest, lol).

And there is a wide range of several things -

Light - from full sun in the background to partially lit/backlit to full shade (and yet it all clear and defined),

Motion - from the moving crowd to the breifly stopped camera girl to the more stationary sitters, and

Mood - blurry guy seems in a hurry or distracted, the woman and baby are just trying to get through the day, and camera girl is happy and exctied to be visiting the city.

Winter Berries

I agree w/ ingridblue - the other 2 clumps of berries are what throw this off for me. They don't blend into the background, so they pull focus,a nd yet they are out of focus. The bokeh of the background is amazing, though.

I didn't vote on this one, and I'm not sure what I would give it. My overall impression is of something missing - more detail, more sky, more of something that was cropped out? I'm not sure what.

I really liked this, but only gave it a 7. The composition was beautiful, and I loved the jewel-like quality, but I wanted to see more detail.

I think it was the dead center horizontal composition that made me score this low. Also the trees, buildings and fence in the background distracted me - their color and texture was more interesting. (I gave it a 5)

A bit too much countertop - it steal focus from the eyes. Theyes themsleves arevery good, except for the odd horizontal stripes on the left (his right eye).

I actually liked the branches. They added to the abandonded feeling nicely. Sort of a foreground bokeh.

This has the feel of a tinted glamor shot from the 40s. The arm above the head seems off to me, but otherwise it has a soft dreamy quality.
