A Delicate Balanceby tfarrell23Comment: Really nice flat landscape, which is hard to make aesthetically pleasing, but isn't the horizon way off? Lopsided rather than Balanced? Not voting. |

Week 2by pamelasueComment: PAW - I really like this portrait. Good composition and expression. The shine on the nose and shadows indicate somewhat harsh lighting. Try diffusing or bouncing the flash. nova mentioned Scott Kelby's Photoshop CS2 book. I had his CS3 book in my hand today at Costco, but instead chose the Adobe written CS3 book with CD and on-line access. Maybe I made a mistake because the Kelby book looked really good. Maybe I'll spring for another $30 and get it also. |

Posingby GermaineComment: PAW - It looks like a dreamy image (TV's version of a dream anyway). A couple things; the seagull appears to be on a dock, but the plane of the dock doesn't match the sea, I'm assuming because they are the two different pictures. Also, it looks like only the small birds in the middle are in focus, probably an effect of the Lensbaby. Apparently it's important to have the subject centered when using Lensbaby if you want the subject in focus. The bright gull really stands out against the rest of a very dark picture. |

The Bluesby jhess77Comment: PAW - The selective desat really points out the subject of this. Did you find it that way or plant the jeans? They look pretty new. The pavement and wall keep this from being too busy. Message edited by author 2009-01-20 00:53:20. |

Kitten Clarence in His Leopard-Skin Bedby quicheComment: PAW - Clarence is really cute. He probably imagines himself as a leopard in that bed. I like the framing of the box and how the front if the face is highlighted. it looks like something to the left of the camera had Clarence's attention. Message edited by author 2009-01-20 00:53:45. |

After The Fog Rolls In by JeffryZComment: Congratulations on the ribbon! Great shot. You managed to get the fog that I was unable to get when I went to the same location (I think, or is it Crystal Pier, OB Pier or IB Pier?) when it was foggy inland but not so foggy in La Jolla. I love the sharp surfer shapes against the hazy ocean and Scripps Pier. |

pow week 1 visitor to the garden by alpharichComment: PAW - Nice find. It looks kind of noisy, and I see it's ISO 800. Shooting at a lower ISO would have helped that. You probably already had it wide open at f5.6 (if I recall, because for some reason I can't bring up pictures or exif data right now), but you could have compromised a bit on the 1/250 shutter speed to make up for it, but may have had to support the camera at this zoom level. Good timing on the rabbit's pose. |

A Sri Lankan Goldsmithby raishComment: PAW - He looks very pleased to be working a job he's overqualified for. I like the comparison with the equally out of place native American (apparently) in the picture. I might suggest cropping out some of the right side and bottom to see the subject better. |

DSC_3329b.jpgby moondogComment: PAW - This reminds me a lot of my growing up on a farm and being expected to drive tractor and truck years before being old enough to get a license, without the hat up North though. I can identify with the nonchalance; by the hundredth time doing up and down the same thousand acres of fields over and over year after year it got very boring. Nicely composed and good lighting, apparently early morning or evening of a long day. |
