I love the contrast between the textures of the masonry and the glass - very nice!

I tried to do something similar at one point when thinking of ideas for my submission, but couldn't pull it off how I wanted - congrats on getting a much better shot than I did! :o)

Great framing, but you probably could have got away with not having the handset in shot

I like the choice of angle - makes it seem escher-like at first glance! The light feels a bit gloomy though

The haze of sunlight adds an ethereal air to the shot, saving it from being just a cliche :o)

Oh yeah, one more thing - the main reason I left the handlebars in shot was so that you could work out what the photo was of! :o)

This was my most successful entry so far, and I was much more pleased with it than my previous shots. The three main issues that everyone seems to be mentioning are:

1 - Focus - Unfortunately, the angle I was taking from meant that I couldn't see the LCD, so I was shooting blind. The shot I chose had the best focus and DOF, but it was a tiny bit too close, hence the bottom foreground blur. I'm now taking many more photos, so that I don't have to use ones with flaws.

2 - Angle - Yes, the tyre was leaning very slightly sideways, as I was trying to keep the bike upright at the same time as shooting, which isn't as easy as it sounds! Rotating then cropping the image didn't really work either, which was annoying. Ah well :o)

3 - Aspect - The original shot was much larger than this, and I cropped it down to the one I submitted. However, I had a huge debate with myself over which aspect to use, and since the portrait shot only gave a more out-of-focus bit of tyre at the top, I decided to go with the landscape, which seemed to have a better impact.

Thanks for your comments everyone - I've been hugely motivated by this one! ;o)

A first glance very simple, but with hidden complexity and detail - just beautiful
