Skeleton Dance - Tibetan Monksby laserComment: Some of the DOF probably should have been left out. To get the blurry background the clarity of focus on the Skeleton Dancer was partially lost. I still enjoyed the photograph. (7) |

The Piperby cjhunter2540Comment: I am a little disappointed that this young fellow is so out of focus. With a clear, crisp focus... thei picture would have jumped right out and grabbed me. It didn't. (4) |

Baile De Cinco De Mayoby SheryllComment: Nice photo. Is slightly out of focus. Those ladies tend to move quite quickly and to capture them is sometimes difficult although I would have thought your flash would have 'stopped' action a little better.
Otherwise, I like this photo! |

The Set-upby jkkerrComment: Oh, this could have been a wonderful photo...and actually it is but it does need a little something... or rather, something taken away.
There is just too much darkness and contrast in the picture. There is great evidence of the determination, thought and hope that is going through this athlete's mind at this moment... but because his face is so dark... you can barely see it.
I know that this is a "basic editing" challenge, but we are still allowed to work with the contrast somewhat.
A beautiful shot, my friend. Please... take this picture and lighten it up and then put it in your portfolio. I would very much like to see it. |

The Angler by ZeppKashComment: Outstanding shot! I can see absolutely nothing wrong with this shot. Balance, focus, clarity, DOF, everything is great. If you don't ribbon with this one... well... I cut my hair!

America's Greatest Game Ever Playedby ScubaSteve13Comment: The picture is a good one...except that it is rather 'blah!' I played baseball for over 35 years and it is my favorite sport and I should be drooling over this shot now that the doctors have told me no more active sports...baseball included. But...after checking... no drool! ;)
It is the perspective of the shot that is where, in my opinion, you went wrong. I believe that you should have filled the whole shot with pictures of baseball. The factories or whatnot in the upper right hand corner, the bleachers' fencing and railings, all of that could go. If you wanted to include the bleachers for effect then maybe taking the picture from the outfield thereby including the bleachers as a part of the game...which it is. But just a part...
I would have taken the picture from behind the backstop probably. Nobody is playing apparently, so go onto the field and put your back to the backstop. Climb the backstop and take a picture from high up showing the infield and bases a little better.
The main thing to think of though is that with a title such as "America's Greatest Game Ever Played", you need a picture that with show the grandness of the game... the feel a basball player gets when he is on a field but isn't playing. Make it more than grand.
I do have to say...the fact that you picked baseball as the sport for the challenge...and the picture you entered...shows you got some potential!! Keep at it!!
