I like the sharp focus on the eyelash and the simplicity of the composition. Although I think you had the right idea with this tight cropping of the frame, I'd like to see a bit more of the child's face and less of the t-shirt.

I like the composition---the way the frame is divided diagonally. It looks a bit overexposed to me. I'd like to see more detail in the texture of the concrete. The glare in the water is hurting this also.

this photo doesn't give me much to think about or look at. These two objects don't evoke any kind of feeling or reaction in me at all. The lighting is good but only in the sense that it reveals the objects with clarity but not in a way that creates a mood of desolation or loneliness to me.

Empty Park Bench

Maybe if this were taken at a different time of day I would get the sense of desolation. A more dramatic point of view would also help. This scene is just peaceful to me---a nice view, dappled shade, and a nice seat. The fact that the bench is empty isn't enough to evoke a sense of desolation in me.

Intersting subject matter and qualifies as desolate. I'm not excited by this though. Maybe a more dramatic angle highlighting a segment of the building rather than this rather straightforward point of view? I think if there were some sort of figure in the foreground, a dog, or cat perhaps, or maybe some abandoned object, this view would work more for me. The expanse of patchy grass doesn't make enough of an impact to me.

Very disturbing and surreal. I didn't vote in, or enter, this challenge because of the possibile (and very likely) high-annoyance factor. But you managed a literal take on a lyric that didn't annoy me and turned out as good art. I like the flat collage quality. It's all so flat and almost non-photo like that I don't even care if that is a real reflection or an Nice work, Don!

I really enjoyed this photo when I viewed it for the Team Suck thing posthumous instigated. I didn't vote for it in the out-of-the box category because I felt the one that I did vote on (I think it was the computer architecture thing) fit that description more. I'm actually really tired of that expression---I like creative thinking but I think it is overused and the results of so-called 'out-of-the-box' thinking are often irrelevant and preposterous. Anyway, I liked this image the best out of the ones offered. I really didn't even want to participate in that voting but I really like posthumous...;D

I really like the colors and the textures in this. It is another example of what is obviously your talent for careful observation of your surroundings. My only beef with this image was that the focus could be sharper for the crackling to really stand out. I know this can be difficult if the lighting isn't great.

This is really lovely. I love this sort of sparse, still water photo where you don't really know where the object ends and the reflection begins. This shows careful observation and a good understanding of exposure. Water is tough!
