Desert Royaltyby sharveyComment: The color is very washed out due to harsh lighting and overexposure. I see some purple in the buds but I get more of a sense of blue from the flowers. |

The Purple Pollinatorby trainComment: Was this done in camera with a filter? If it was done in PS it seems rather against the spirit of the challenge. Anyone can turn something purple in PS.
Photographically, I'm not sure how much the addition of purple adds to this shot. The brownish don't make a particulalry dynamic background. A closer crop might be more striking. |

Sensualityby wwwavengerComment: This looks like turquoise and vermillion to me. I'm not seeing much purple. It's kind of unpleasant to look at. |

Saltwater Solitudeby muur88Comment: I see some purple in the sky but I don't know if it impacts the photo as much as it should for this challenge. It's a very nice night shot. I would only suggest cropping it to exclude the other wall or fence and the fishing gear. |

Purple Planterby pumaComment: This looks blue on my monitor. Sorry. Even so,it's kind of a dull composition. The planter has potential as interesting subject matter but I would have cropped out the unnattractive foliage, the wood, and the grass in the background. None of these elements add to the composition. The whole thing looks rather drab and colorless. |

Margaretby melismaticaComment: Thanks to all who commented. I appreciate receiving so many comments. I'm a bit disappointed that so many chose to comment about the lighting on the left side of her face. I intended the half-lighting. It is not an uncommon type of portrait lighting so I'm not sure why so many chose to give advice as to how to add fill-light. I actually have other shots from this sitting where her whole face is lit. I used three separate lights.
I thought it was quite obvious that I intended the lighting (some people got it so I wasn't that far off) so those kind of comments just kind of irritate after the third or fourth one. If I had lit her whole face, I would have lost the mood I was aiming at. |

FogRaftS.JPGby emorgan49Comment: Exquisite. The raft appears to be floating in space. This makes me think of something I just read in the wonderful book Looking at Photographs, regarding the odd way in which photography fools our senses. Our eye sees what our sensibility rejects. I only wish the tree wasn't there. It doesn't detract too much but I think I would like this photo better without.
Edited for spelling and to comment that I didn't realize Jon had already made a similar comment regarding the tree. Message edited by author 2004-07-02 15:16:09. |

TracterInBarnS.JPGby emorgan49Comment: Wonderful simplicity and moody lighting. The highlights on the silhouhetted toy tractor bring out just enough detail to make out the vintage lines. I love the square of light on the floor. |

Butterfly Huntby Patents4uComment: There seems to be a large circle of highlight dodging that appears a bit overdone. Otherwise, this is very nice. I like the image and the soft focus. |
