Bello Verdeby GraciousComment: Well, I'm glad I have this image to critique because I liked it a lot.
I love the abstract nature of this shot. You focused on shapes, colors and reflections. I think this is all glass is about so it was definitely a good move. All those are emphasized by the close-up compostion you chose. Very well done.
The exposure is perfect, allowing to show all those great tones and variations of green. Not too much detail using this reduced DOF: this emphasizes the shapes, I like it.
Maybe less graininess would have been better: it doesn't relly fit the theme of glass. I don't know if it came from your processing. Anyway, This is pretty much all I can think of to improve this shot you perfectly executed.
Congratulations, and Good luck for your future entries.

Very well done. |

Lean on Me by SonifoComment: A really good entry. I love the graphic touch of this one and the unusual angle/composition. Very well done. You managed to capture great delicates tones.
But I HATE your border, it totally distracts from the picture! And it's toot close from the top and bottom! You should definitely give more white space around the flowers! This is really too bad.
OK I will only give you a 9... :) |

Lila Fascinationby Ilona57Comment: My favorite so far. Very delicate picture.
Good use of DOF: reduced to emphasize the shapes, but not too much to give the viewer enough detail. Very well done.
Lighting is perfect. And I love the colors.
Just a little something I can't put my finger on bothers me in the composition so I guess I'm gonna give you just a 9. :)
Beautiful picture. |

Wakulla Springs: The Real Floridaby BudweezerComment: A very good entry!
First: the subject. To choose this boat was a very good move. It fits perfectly the theme, and has a touristic appeal which makes you want to go there and/or makes you feel like you are there. This is what a postcard is meant for! So very good choice.
The composition is maybe the main reason why this pic works well. The angle you chose to capture the boat makes me feel like I was about to embark. 2/3 of the picture is filled with water, which totally makes sense here since it is finally the main subject. Maybe one thing to improve this composition though. It's been mentioned in the comments:
this image doesn't have the usual postcard proportions. I'm sure it would have looked much better with more rectangular proportions. Too bad.
The exposure is perfect. You wonderfully capture the texture of water and its reflections, while the sky is not washed out. Very well done.
The only reason I can think of why this entry didn't do better despite its undeniable multiple qualities is the lack of wow factor. Compared to spectacular night city lights reflections, this entry has less immediate appeal. But it is definitely very good and I wish you had done better with the votes.
Good luck for your future entries.
