composition is good, more depth of field would have been better though

2 weeks in a row critiquing a magnetic9999 photo. this will be tough because it's so good.

Composition

Your choice of angle is very refreshing after seeing how a lot of photos were overdone. It is believable that this could actually be a line of sight for someone looking up at this pillar. The only problem mentioned below and the only problem I really have is the imperfection on the left pillar. As I look at the picture, my eyes conintually get drawn back to that point, which is a shame. The choice of using shadows in your composition is also refreshing and does give a sense of grandeur to the pillars. Excellent job.

Technical

Once again, you have created a technically sound photo. DOF is amazing and sharpness is as good as it gets. The real eye catcher in this photo for me is the choice of duotone. The color creates an infrared feel to it with the dark sky and bright pillars. This was a great choice and created a great effect. Once again excellent job.

Overall

Very visually stunning and pleasing picture. I'm sorry that I can't find much fault for you to correct ;). Keep up the good work

Composition

Your composition is pretty strong. I think cropping the photo more on the bottom would increase the focus on your subject. The bush with the leg sticking out is centered which is good for bringing the viewer's attention to the leg. As soon as I saw this pic I knew it was shot in AZ because the colors are so muted. Overall composition is good, but I think it is confusing because I honestly think that the "leg" looks nothing like and actual leg and as I look closer at the picture I can see what looks like a man on the balcony in the background of the pic. Is this what was supposed to be the focal point? It seems by some of the comments that others were confused as well.

Background

The background is good and completes the look of the photo. The cut lines on the grass lead naturally to the background. Nothing Much to add here, sorry.

Technical

This could be just a result of your camera, but I have to say that the main issue with most of your photos is the soft focus on all of the photos. This makes it hard to see details and in a challenge like waldo details are essential. If things were clearer people wouldn't be so confused and it would be easier for you to convey what you need to convey. The lighting is good. It may be a tad dark but not that bad.
There does not appear to be much post processing.

[b]My Opinion[/]

This was one of the more original Waldo shots in the challenge. I like this a lot but the soft focus really hurts the photo because it doesn't give the viewer a chance to figure out what is going on. This is one of the few that actually met the challenge in my opinion, and you should be commended for that. Just work on that focus and you should be set.

this is my first critique club critique, don't kill me mag! haha

Composition:

I think this is probably the main reason that the photo didn't do better than it did. The background gives the impression that maybe this pick was thrown together at the last second. The calendar isn't even with the lens and is tilted a bit. Some commenters suggested a tighter crop, but i don't think that is the problem. Perhaps just a solid colored background and a level calendar would have been better. A tighter crop on the bottom of the photo would have also helped.

Background:

Technical:

Nothing too spectacular going on here. Everything is clear as it should be. Focus is a tad sharp but that doesn't take away from the photo. DOF is good as you can clearly see the eyes and the cat's face.

My Opinion:

This is a very cute photo, and a very good idea. It brings about positive emotions and happiness. Clearing up the problems with composition would greatly improve the photo's impact.

the fact that it's hard to read negates the purpose of the close up
