The evolution idea is good. Composition here isn't very interesting, though. Also you've got light fall-off on the left side, especially in the lower left corner.

Comment:
Avoid obvious black blotches in the background when you're post processing the photos. Use the eyedropper tool to sample the background rather than just assuming it's truly black.

The interesting part of this photo is where the shadows of the glasses hit the surface on which the glasses rest. The keys are almost a distraction.
