Ancient & Modern Unrevisedby rlancasterComment: I don't know that ancient vs. modern is really a dichotomy so much as a contrast. There are some very interesting objects pictured, but too many, I think. I like the idea of using the old map as a backdrop. 6. |

The unsolved dichotomy. Which came first? by De SousaComment: Not sure if this is really a dichotomy so much as a paradox, but its a very interesting idea, and well executed. I love the use of rule of thirds and the frozen motion. It's a little dark for my taste. 7 |

Invertibrate in ex-Vertibrateby cogeroxComment: High marks for an interesting take on the challenge. The photo itself is rather busy, the snail doesn't stand out enough, and I don't think the black background works. Gutsy choice of subject. 6. |

Natural vs Plasticby wsteynComment: Well done - rich natural colors contrast with the cold whites, blues, and greys of the plastics. Might have worked better in a portrait orientation (maybe the plastic field wasn't wide enough?). Excellent work 9 |

Yin - Yangby fotofanComment: Most interesting illustration of the ultimate dichotomy! The monochrome works, as does the contrast between the costumes and skin color of the models. Might have worked better with an African American model, or by putting the dark makeup on the models arms as well (would have ruined the dress, though...) Excellent work. 9 |

in twoby yianisnComment: Not a dichotomy, just a contrast - a neat one, though. Nice use of rule of thirds, and the blank background works. I really like this photo, but I don't think it meets the challenge. My sense the aesthetics wins out over jurisprudence - 7. |

Flora and Faunaby DrAchooComment: This is a contrast, not a dichotomy - the two elements are not in conflict or mutually exclusive - in fact, quite the opposite. I like the composition and color contrast. Macro photography always impresses me because I am totally incapable of doing it. 7 |

Amphibiousby sibelingComment: I can get with the dual nature of amphibious life as a dichotomy, but I think it would have been better to have shown the contrast/conflict somehow in the photograph - perhaps one water-guy frog and one land-guy frog. The composition and color pallette are nice, and the shallow depth of field works. 7 |
