An interesting take on the challenge indeed. I'm not sure the shallow depth of field works. Nice use of rule of thirds. 8

Interesting comparison. I like that the teacup is in focus. Lighting looks good too.

I love a good cup of coffee but I also like lots of it so I'll take the quality but in the big cup.
Technically your shot suffers from a bit of noise and that little corner of the table on the bottom left would be better cropped out but otherwise it looks good and meets the challenge imo.

Bringing some cups forward on the left would create a more interesting angle and enhance the comp.
